Outstanding educator. Tough tests and tough grader, but does great at explaining the material and making it understandable. Attendance isn't required, but missing any classes can set you way behind. Fun to listen to and learn from.

Very difficult class & instructor! ! A bit much for entry level biology. PowerPoint presentations everyday. . His tests are one word questions. However, he is very helpful, if you show interest and the desire to learn all his "his great stuff!" I wouldn't suggest his class unless you are an honor student. Started w30 students ended w 10!

The class was very difficult. He is mostly a power point teacher which was ok. Gave a note card on some tests. Expects too much of students right off the bat, I took the class already and still don't know very much except from what I looked up myself.

Comment:

Let some classes use notecards but not others for some tests. However, he gives a lot of extra credit. He does a poor job introducing students to college in an entry-level class. Only called on me for EVERY question. He never referenced the textbook. Allowed laptops and tolerated quiet talking as long as it was constructive. Incorporated videos.

Ive always hated bio, & after the first class with Dr. Pfund, I thought I wouldn't pass. But Ive actually learned A LOT this semester. I'm not even a science major & wish I could take him again. Don't get me wrong, he's a tough cookie, but WILL help if you're willing to work hard. Memorize & UNDERSTAND the study guide & you'll pass. & ask Q's!!!!

Tough teacher. Some of the questions in the exam are confusing. He's nice and would help you if you're struggling but to pass a B or C, you have to literally focus and study hard. Homeworks help a lot with points so do it. Try not to miss a lecture too.

In the beginning you'll hate him. If you continue to not put in work or go to class you'll hate him. But, if you are willing to work hard and actually learn a ton, you will love him if you can get past the first couple of weeks. He knows what he is talking about just not always 100% clear but still a GREAT teacher! Says "this is great stuff" a lot!

He is a good teacher, but you have to try 120% to pass this class with a C. Content is extremely difficult. I have a friend who majored in bio and she constantly tells me this stuff shouldn't be taught in a general bio class. Testsquizzeshomework is HARD. Definitely go to his office hours. It's the difference between passing and failing.

Dr.Pfund is a very challenging teacher. My wife was in medical school when I took his class. I showed her my homework and she said this is 300 to 400 level material! I am not a science guy so I had to work extra hard for the B I earned. I sat in front and asked questions. He wants to see that you are making an honest effort.

Awesome teacher! Did ok in biology in high school, but was inspired to dig deeper in his class. Very helpful, and went to see him during his office hours all the time with questions. "This is great stuff," and "Read the question!" two lines I'll never forget. Also had him for the bio lab part, loved that section too. I highly recommend him!

Although I dropped his class because I was not doing very well (other classes and work got in the way), he is a great instructor. His homework is completely based on the notes (if you look hard enough) and the homework is basically the test. I will be taking his class again in the Fall to finally pass it.

I loved his class. His lectures are clear and he pretty much tells you exactly what will be on the tests. More than once he said something like,"Remember this, you might see it somewhere." He uses real world examples and is always to help out and/or dial back the pace. If you show up to class and put in a minimum of studying, you will pass.

He has his PhD in Biology; he knows his stuff. Don't bother buying book for lecture, you wont open it, He lets you print his lecture slides. Pay attention in class, take good notes and you'll ace this. He doesn't like the kids who just try to scrape by. He's very smart and if you pay attention you may just learn something. READ THE QUESTIONS :)

He's a great guy, keeps class interesting and fun. I did not use the text book rarely studied the notes he gave us to print out and got a B in his class. I'm not very smart, His tests are straight forward making this class easy. I def recommend him over the other bio teachers.
