Easiest class. You don't have to go, but if you want to avoid reading the book as much as possible, go and write down certain things that he says. He thinks he's brilliant, so if you reuse words/concepts he mentions in class, he will think you're a genius. I wish Loyola gave A+s.

Comment:

I found this class to be a waste of time. He's the biggest hypocrite I've ever met. He explains how communication is subject to bias and then rants about how the democratic party is so great and all republicans are evil and terrible people. I didn't sign up for a class to listen to someone's views on politics for 2 1/2 hours a week.

Comment:

A midterm (half of which is take home essays), and two easy essays. Don't really use the book that much. Basically lets the class run the discussion and relates the different aspects to communication. For our final, we just watched a movie. Easy grader. Papers were easy to write. Ross was cool. Talks a lot about politics and religion. Fun class.

hes a really nice guy. the class was a blowoff..we basically talked about whatever we wanted and related it to cmun in some way. two papers, an easy midterm, and no final...take him!!!

if your conservative be prepared to be bashed!!!! better yet if you are conservative do no take this class.... he is extremely easy however does not talk about the course at all!!! i honestly do not know what i learned... all i know is he hates republicans and has a very distorted view of reality and life!!!

I still don't know his grading criteria. He says he's unbiased, but i think he is. Only had to do a total of 3 speeches and write one paper. Easiest prof to take for speech.

Very interesting and fun class for the most part. Tries really hard to tie things into how to speak and question things critically. A class about speaking and criticizing the world around you. He's into religion, politics and the arts as well and tries to tie it all into speaking in public. I learned alot overall.

never remembers students names in a class of about 17, even after asking people's names about a trillion times. doesn't respond to questions through email. asks everyone if they're jewish for some reason. veers off the topic into things that don't even relate to public speaking but he somehow tries to tie them in. easy, but very VERY frustrating.

I would highly recommend JRJR. His class is interesting most of the time and isn't terribly hard. You watch two movies that tie in with the class, write a few papers, and take three tests. He knows what he's doing, which is more than I can say for most professors.

professor ross is extremely interesting. he puts a nice spin on the class with his many areas of expertise, however, he tends to veer off the subject matter of the class. i do recommend.

Jon Ross is super cool. He clearly loves what he does, and it shows. He's pleasant to be around, and has completely realistic expectations from eveyone in the class. He's a super teacher, and seems like super person

Comment:

Fairly easy, yet very informative teacher. Learned just as much, if not more from him, than I would've learned taking a harder teacher. He is also skilled in theology and theatre, so if you like those, they put a unique spin on the class.
