AMAZING TEACHER. Read the books, participate in class and pay attention to his lectures. The three papers are easy if you listen in class. It would be a privilege to have him again one day.

He just rambles for his lectures and then nitpicks your essays. He will put circles and question marks all over everything and then fail you. He is doing this to other students also. I have always been known as a good writer and in my other classes I'm doing fine but he called me a horribleness writer and won't clearly explain how and why.

Dr. Lipchitz tells you, on the first day of class, that the course is reading intensive and class time is discussion-based. Yes, you are expected to read on your own and are encouraged to ask questions in class, that's most of your grade right there. His vast knowledge and lengthy teaching experience provide a wealth of information.

Very unorganized, no structure to the class. Lectures the whole time just from memory, which makes it hard to take notes. Very unclear about assigning assignments or when they're due.

Probably the worst class I've taken. He lectures without writing on the board or using slides, his lectures have extremely little to do with quizzes and tests, and he is strange when grading. He seems like a nice guy but I would never take another class with him.

Hes a nice guy, but I would have to say he is the worst professor I have had. Does not lecture well at all just rambles on and on most of the time not on the content he should be lecturing about. Also, the lectures have little to do with tests and quizzes. If you take this professor make sure to read the textbook.

Do not take western civ with this professor. Terrible at teaching. Speaks softly when lecturing and there isn't slides or powerpoints. Sometimes, he just babbles on and on. You will not learn anything, even if you go to every class. The book is really boring.

Literally the worst class I've ever taken. His lectures are just him going on and on about nonsense and he loves to mumble to himself. Do not take this class.

Prof Lipchitz has an old school mentality on lecturing. He tends to stand at the front of the class and just drone on and on. No powerpoints and no writing on the board; just talking. I had him for an 8am so it was tough to stay awake. Despite this, he is a really nice guy who wants students to do well.

One of the best. Yes, there's a lot of reading and writing, but it's a 300 level History class! Go to lecture, do the readings, do the work, and you'll get a good grade. He's always willing to work with you as long as you put the effort in!

Had him for 3 classes West Civ, Irish Hist, Crime and Soc. Punishment. Very fair teacher. Makes you work but happy to grant extensions to people that show up. Attendance isn't mandatory but if you don't show up you can't complain about grades. Prone to ambing a bit but a very good teacher. Not the best for non-history majors looking for easy A's.

He's a good prof for English history, however I'm not entirely a fan of his approach to Irish history. Gives easy assignments and tests (bear in mind I was an honors/AP history student in HS/history major now). Pretty fair guy I think has been overly accommodating to certain students who are very much tardy in their assignments.

Super nice guy. His classes aren't easy but you learn a lot if you put in the work. A lot of reading. I wouldnt recommend him if you arent a humanites major or used to reading a lot and writing a lot of papers. But flexible and understanding if you talk to him. Good guy and a great teacher. Knows his stuff.

Pretty awful class. He know's what he's talking about, admittedly. However, he also expects you to read roughly 1500-2000 pages to be adequately prepared for his tests. Extremely disorganized, very unhelpful. Good luck with him if you decide to take England to 1660.

Very uncooperative, almost adversarial with students. Picks a few sycophants in each class that do well, everyone else get to be whipping posts for the semester. Unclear in his assignments, incoherent in his feedback, the less you study, and the more you regurgitate his lectures, the better you will do.I had grades ranging from A- to F-my first ev

I think he's great. there is no textbook. Just a few assigned readings. He taught from the top of his head which shows his knowledge of the topics. We had 3 book reviews 3 discussions and a paper at the end on a topic of our choice (from a list). I was always late to class b/c its was @ 8am and im not a morning person. Take it!
