Professor Landis is a great professor and an expert on the Middle East and specifically Syria. If you do everything on time and study for the Map Test it is very easy to do well in this class.

Great guy. Work hard and you get the grade you deserve. He is very responsive and fair. He is not a blow off. You will learn a lot and still have a chance at a good grade.

Dr. Landis is a really nice guy and he's obviously an expert on the Middle East. He definitely struggle with staying on subject, however, so most of the learning has to happen outside the classroom, on one's own time. The amount of reading is totally insane, so keep up with it or you'll find yourself drowning. A nice guy, but not the best teacher.

Guy is just great. just attend class and he'll take you on a ride. Also half the class was on youtube so you could review it fairly easily.

Incredibly smart but also surprisingly down to earth and accessible despite being a huge deal in the international relations world. His class is fairly easy, two 7 page essays and two multiple choice online tests. The only difficulty is there is a ton of reading. I never did all of it and got an A, though.

I learned a lot in U.S. and Middle East. Hamerla graded the papers. Lecture was really informative, although sometimes tangential. The entire grade was based on 4 papers, great for me because writing comes easily to me, but if you struggle with writing you might have a rough time. Great sense of humor, broad knowledge. Overall great prof.

Entirely too much reading, especially for a history class. Lecture is all over the place, and he isnt very accessible. Has favorites.

Prof. Landis is knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the topics he teaches. He also makes good use of class time and does not make things unnecessarily difficult. That's not to say that it is easy, but it's as clear and interesting as it can be. That's an art. I did find him difficult at times to deal with, but he more than makes up for that.
