She say "Like this?" more in class than any actual material. If something on her computer isnt working, she leaves it for someone else. Apparently computers are too difficult for her or something. It'd be nice if you could understand her shattered English too.

Comment:

Professor Mal is a very helpful teacher. The material can be a little overwhelming for those with no background in programming, but Mal will spend AS LONG AS IT TAKES with you until you understand it. The first month I was a little skeptical about her, due to my own inexperience in programming, but she is awesome and a great Professor person.

Mal was by far one of my favorite professors. She is extremely willing to help outside of class if you need it and is very clear in her teaching. As long as you pay attention, take notes, and work on the work outside of class, you'll be well off in this course.

Mal is one of the nicest, most genuinely caring professors you will ever encounter. She has been my favorite at the University, and I highly recommend her. She knows what she's doing, and is always more than willing to help whenever and for whatever you want. Seriously just a very sweet and caring professor.

Mal is by far the best teacher I have ever had. It is very clear that she cares about her students' performance and is more than willing to help. She has an accent but she is perfectly understandable. I would love to have her again.

Nothing she does is unfair and she is always willing to help anyone whenever they need it. The important thing is that you meet her halfway. I think that this professor is overall nice, but her classes are useless due to the fact that she tends to talk about nothing during class and ask the class elementary questions. Just read the book and you'll be able to do everything better than anything that she could likely teach you.

She is a really great teacher. Computer Science material is inherently difficult to understand to most, but she is ALWAYS open to help. She is always willing to meet for assistance with programs, and she holds weekly help sessions. Just make sure you understand each concept completely, because the next section will likely expand on it. Recommended.

Mal is a very helpful teacher and really knows her information. It take a few days to get used to her accent, but other than that there is nothing to worry about. She answers questions very well and is always available to help when needed. Weekly quizzes and one midterm. As long as you practice the information you will be fine.

Really easy class, just do the work! She wants everyone to go to class and takes attendance but it will only affect you if you're on the fence. Quizzes are straight out of the book, lab TAs are MORE than helpful, will do the work for you if you ask. SO nice, I'm taking her again for 240a.

Mal is an overall great teacher. I had her for 210 and am taking her once again for 240A. The class is fairly easy overall, just make sure you take good notes and don't let yourself get behind on the material. I highly recommend her.

Mal was a wonderful teacher. She is very helpful, explains things very well. If she doesn't think the class is getting it or if someone asks her, she will do her best to put it in a way the students will understand. I can't say enough about her. Wonderful. Quite easy too if you put the time into it.

I'm not sure why people rated the class a 4/5 on easiness - it's NOT easy. You have no idea what'll be on the weekly quizzes - she pulls random things from lectures, bits from the thick chapters, and bits from weekly labs. The lab is rough; you're given instructions and have to write programs from scratch, with minimal help from the TA. I think a lot of people who take it have programming backgrounds. So, beware - it won't be an easy A.
