Comment:

Fantastic teacher! Easy to understand; easy to follow. Gives good feedback on graded assignments. If you want to pass with an A, show up to class, take notes (just copy what the slides say), and make sure to prepare for your speeches (--it shows, and she notices). She's more than willing to help and very clearly wants students to succeed.

Comment:

Kinnick grades fairly but if you don't prepare, don't expect good grades on the three speeches or multiple choice midtermfinal. She makes you feel comfortable in front of the class but be prepared for random, get up in front of the class exercises. She bumps up 89s to As and 79s to Bs if you have less than two absences and participate.

Not a bad class, but expect to do a lot of awkward in front of the class activities that you have only five minutes to prepare for.(not graded) 3 speeches, but be careful because 2 points off for that and 2 off for this adds up fast. The two Tests are easy IF you review all of the material before them. Overall I learned and received an A

I had her for Intro to Public Speaking, and it was my favorite class! Granted, I love Public Speaking. As a professor she presented very clear powerpoints that were easy to get notes from, and the midterm and final were straight from the class! I wish I could take this class again!!!!!

She is a lovely professor, and she does a great job of teaching. She does a great job helping you understand the material. She also had several group exercises that were fun and kept the class from being boring. She is an all around enjoyable professor.

Took her Public Speaking course in Fall, 2011. Excellent professor! She's helpful, kind and made the whole class atmosphere enjoyable. Definitely an improvement over the last Public Speaking professor I had before dropping.

GREAT professor. Very nice. Make sure you go to class and prepare for speeches. She's very fair in grading and in tests. If you don't just go up there and just BS the whole thing, you'll do great. Her videos and class discussions will really help you prepare your speeches and she's always ready to help. Got an A. :)

Normal Prof. Nothing special. Took for public speaking. Tough grading on the overall 3 speeches we gave over the course of the semester. Found myself wondering many times why so and so received a 90, and I received an 82 or so. Not too happy with my end grade even though I improved in my speech delivery over the course of the semester.

frustrating class. this is a com elective, should not be as difficult as it is. we did activities every class period which did not teach us the information, then we take the test which she says will be "very hard" and the class test average is 72! I went to every class and studied for tests and got a C when I got an A in com theory.

Great Professor. She grades hard, but fair. She's very clear with her teaching and is a genuinely nice person. Be ready to work and learn. It might not be the easiest class but you'll come out knowing you learned! The material is interesting and she makes it easy to understand and learn.

Prof is always willing to clarify points & help. There's a lot of material to cover in the course & most of the questions on the tests are example-type ?s but it's possible to make an A if you pay attention in class & study the lecture notes. Fair grading system. Really engaging w/lots of in-class activiites to help you remember concepts.

She is great. Uses awesome power points, but does not post them online. Attendance is mandatory, but you only get points taken off if you have more the FOURTEEN absences. She's always in a good mood, and it's obvious that she really loves teaching! I would definitely take her again. A+!!!

Her voice is SO irritating!! I'm pretty sure she has turned me against any type of public speaking career. For a speech teacher, she really sucks at speaking. Definitely don't recommend this class!!

I hate getting up in front of people and talking but this class really helped. Dr. Kinnick was definitely the reason for helping get over my fears. She's kind of annoying but really helpful and understand that this is a required course and no one wants to be there.

Great class that has helped me be more confident in my other classes presentations. Before coming into this class, I had a big fear of public speaking and leaving this class, I left with an understanding of it. Great Teacher, Great Class, Just work hard and you will have no problem getting an A. Take this Teacher!!!!

I hate public speaking and after this class....I hate it even more. I dreaded going to this class everytime. It was either becasue I knew we would have boring lectures or I had to do a speech which would be graded unfairly. She doesnt teach you how to write a speech at all.

her voice will drive you crazy. she lectures about not speaking in monotone...but she does it!! outside of class--nice lady. pretty understanding. lectures are SOO boring and taken directly out of the book. if you really don't want to go to class..theres no point except good attendence may pay off at th end of the semester...avoid class if possible

How did this woman get a phd in communications? Her voice makes her students want to die. She makes tons of mistakes on powerpoints, yet she counts off for stupid stuff in papers, journals, etc. The class was an easy A, but had tests, papers, and lots of homework (most ksu classes don't). Do yourself a favor and DON'T TAKE HER!!
