I thought this class was hard at first. All you have to do is pay attention and ask for help if you need it. If your group sucks, Go to Dr M. and she will not only help but she may cut you slack. I am in my 7th year as an IT professional and I still use skills from this class. Yeah, Access sucks. If you can't learn it, you might want a diff major.

The class has a lot of work, and a lot of studying. If by the end of the semester you thought it was a lot of work, wait till 166 not even funny. I enjoyed 158 a lot more then 166. Do not be afraid to ask the professor help or ask questions. You will learn a lot by doing this.

First of all, she is a nice lady, people say bad things because the class is difficult and they don't pass. Study!!!!!!!!Practice your queries as much as you can. She preps you for the real world of database. Make time for the the project. An 88% gets you an A in the class. but a hard class regardless.

I really did not like her when I had her - she was very hard but loved the topic. She would make us resubmit work if she did not like the quality. I am working full time now in IS & I realize she was the best teacher I had. She knew what it would be like in industry & kept trying to tell us. Wish I had paid more attention. Take her and listen.

*extremely* difficult exams. Class averages were in the 50-60% range. Dr Moffit is extremely knowledgeable in regards to databases, but tests are inordinately difficult. If you are an IS major, you must take this class - just prepared to devote a lot of time to it, and prepare for a rough semester

Okay before the first test I was scared out of my mind because she does not review and says study the chapters, powerpoints, and notes. BUT, the test wasn't that bad because I studied. Shes not a very good teacher but its not a hard class as long as you pay attention in class or study. Its college your going to have to study.

Not only were her lectures boring and repetitive, but her tests also were horrible. She would NOT hand out study guides, nor tell us the expectations of what we needed to know for the tests. The class average was always a low C and when you asked her for help she would say go on blackboard to the discussion forum, which was ultimately no help.

This instructor is the reason I am continuing with this career path. She demands a lot so that our major is given a good reputation. The students who "hate" are those that didn't do well in her class. she expects a lot becuase she gives a lot. Excellent teacher with a lot of passion, experience and information. I really enjoyed her class.

This instructor is really caring. I have had her several times, and I have found that the students who work hard get the good grades. If you don't work, your grade will suffer. She was so smart, and she could convey her message clearly. Excellent instructor. Thanks!

This teacher is unbelievably incompetent. I am shocked that she ever obtained tenure. She is condescending, disrespectful, and downright rude. Class average on the two tests thus far: D and F, respectively. Now, for me, this reflects on her ability to teach, rather than on the ability of the 30 students? ability to comprehend the given material.

This teacher is a joke. She speaks as if she is flawless and treats her class WAY too seriously. Her lectures are terribly boring and convoluted. Want to see her for help? She will belittle you. Lastly, the group project is an absolute joke. I came in excited, and she squashed my enthusiasm in 3 weeks flat. Thanks Dr. Moffitt!

Avoid Moffitt for 158 if at all possible. I have talked to people that have taken Kwan, and he is supposed to be a 100% better teacher. Moffitt knows the subject material, but isn't the best at teaching it. I feel like I could have learned A LOT more with a better teacher. Her attitude is terrible! She likes to nitpick as opposed to help.

this was a good and interesting class. the instructor has a very different teaching style as opposed to is158. the semester projects are quite enjoyable and show the various uses of GIS. the book goes through a bunch of examples of different techniques, but doesn't do a good job of explaining the theories and reasons behind the techniques.

This is probably the worst teacher I've had at Fresno State....maybe the worst of my entire life. Extremely inconsistent, lots of curveballs, "Know it all" attitude, will always find a way to blame it on you, expect to do lots of work in MS Access even though we over covered it in class for about 30 minutes. Not recommended at all.
