Dr. Norris is super great! I am taking her Death and Dying class next semester and her class on Appalachia the next time its offered. She has lots of knowledge on rural communities and their history which comes in handy for living in our region.

I have taken many classes with Dr. Norris and I love her classes. People complain about how much work she has you do, but it really isn't that bad. You do have to read a lot, but other than that its okay. She is super caring and responds to emails and is always willing to meet with you outside of class. She doesn't use iLearn at all, though.

I needed an elective and this was the only class left for SOC. To be an elective, I do more work in here than any other class. Makes you buy 3 books -- you have to read them, do homework assignments, group projects, weekly quiz etc. She is scatterbrained and is weirdly obsessed with Appalachia.. Keeps you the whole 3 hours of class time, very dull

Grades ridiculously! Pages worth of HW each week. Lecture is so DRY!!!She preaches environmental protection, but yet has you print out all of your work to hand in, instead of her allowing anything to be done electronically (to save some trees). She preaches like we are all sinners who do not appreciate the earth because we use technology.

I have had her for MANY classes and recommend her to anyone. She really is about the hands on learning techique which will help in the workforce. she does do things outside of the classroom and is not the traditional professor. She covers everything on the tests through your readings and videos. If you want true exeperience take her classes..

A bit slow starting out, but once we got into the heart of Appalachia it was fun. It is easy to get confused at times, but she goes above and beyond to ensure you understand everything. Her mid-term and finals are tough and you cant wait til last minute to do them. Overall I enjoyed it.

Overall, a nice lady. As a professor teaching an undergraduate course, SHE IS TERRIBLE. She treats this class like its a Master's class. Her requirements are insane. Take my advice: FIND ANOTHER PROFESSOR BEFORE YOU ENROLL IN HER 3900 CLASS! You will be glad you did!

This is one of the worste professors I have had in my 3 years of college courses. She is extremely dull and boring and makes everything much more difficult than it should be. Her tests are impossible to pass no matter how much you study and I am normally an A student. I would highly recommend that you avoid taking her class.

She very nice and easygoing, and she doesnt get mad like ever. But the class was kinda boring, she just lectured and didnt make it fun. Tests are moderate, you need to read your book to make a A on the test. The final was super easy.

She is a awesome Prof. I had her spring 09 and her test were kinda hard. But she will help you anyway she can as long as you go talk to her. Dr. Norris classes are definitely worth taking and she is hilarious. Just go to class and keep up with your homework.

Dr. Norris is extremely nice & helpful, all you have to do is ask. But for this particular class there is a boat load of required assignments. Stay on top of deadlines and you'll do fine. Side Note: Her tests are no joke.

Study the guides she gives you for the exam. Don't be alarmed when you see the disorganization. She is a very bust lady. Make sure above all else you go to class so you will know where you are at with the project and the test. you can get lost quick.

Takes a few classes to get her figured out. first class was distressing, 4 other classes were terrific! Very understanding yet teaches in a way that forces you to take some knowledge with you. If you are lazy or just want to slide by, avoid her completely. If you are actually interested in "hands on" learning. She's the ONE!

This class is a alot of work. There was so much work that we didn't get it all done by end of semester. Class moves at a fast pace, L. Norris is helpful but unclear and moody at times, but she tries to make it interesting. Tests are HARD so be prepared to STUDY alot. Too much time spent on partnering up with someone. Pick your parnter carefully.

The trick to this class is to stay up to date on all the prescribed work. If you stay current, and show up, you'll do well. If not... then you have only yourself to blame. Dr. Norris gives thorough study guides prior to the tests but they cover more than you need which isn't great for the lazy. Picking a good partner for your project will help.

Going in I thought she was going to be easy especially since it was an intro. class but she wasn't and I ended up with a D. Very nice lady but grades extremely hard. We had partners to do a research paper, not to mention my partner sucked and left me w/ all the work, but anyways I really have no pointers on how to prepare for her test. Good Luck!
