He is the most disorganized professor I've ever had. His notes consist of random pictures on the board, and maybe 1 out of 7 lectures you will get relevant information. He will expect you to know everything even though he hasn't taught it to you, so be prepared to learn from yahoo answers or chegg.

Comment:

He's an okay professor but his lectures are a little disorganized and there are as little notes written on the board as possible so you may have to read the chapter later. Tests are a big mystery so you must study everything you've talked about to be safe. Has some pretty in-depth analogies to help convey the material more clearly.

Comment:

Brehm is a good guy and I really enjoy him has a person, but as a professor he's not the best. But not the worst either. My biggest critique is that he can be scatterbrained on parts of a topic to have YOU make the conclusion as a whole. However, the tests are pretty much the big points that he makes in class. If he says it a lot, it's on the exam.

I have had Dr. Brehm for many classes and although I cannot speak for lower level physics courses, my experience is that he takes pride in making content understandable, specifically with his analogies. His grading on tests is tough and have a hint of subjectivity, but as long as you make it known you are giving an effort, he will reward you.

Terrible, just terrible! He doesn't explain anything clearly whatsoever. His idea is to explain something that is alot harder than it has to be and he gets irrationally angry when you don't understand something. Avoid taking a class with him because you will be bored and you will not pass.

I took energy and the environment with him. This class was pretty simple and you didn't need to know any physics. You just learned some concepts of physics that were 10th grade level stuff. I never bought the book, but he advised reading it, but you really don't have to. The one time i did need it i had the library borrow it from another school

Terrible professor. He does not help at all and doesn't care if you get good grades. I got a tutor because I was having a tough time and he told me I was stupid for getting one..Don't ever take this class with him!

made us buy a very expensive textbook that we NEVER had to use and he even told us not to look at it! did not answer my ?s at all. played favorites. everyone in my class nearly failed, many of us S/U-ed it. made someone show their grandfather's obituary as proof they had to miss class. DO NOT TAKE A CLASS WITH HIM!

Worst teacher I've ever had.Not accommodating at all. He's one of those teachers who thinks that his class is the only one your taking. Not helpful at all. He doesn't tell you whats on the tests lets you guess for yourself. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS UNLESS NEEDED!

Didn't like the subject matter, very boring. He doesn't answer your questions, just rambles. Didn't do the homework, didn't study, but did take notes and got a 2.3 in the class. Unless you like physics, I recommend choosing a more interesting class.

Great teacher. Interesting to listen to but you need to put forth effort outside of class to do well. Is very easy going when it comes to handing in assignments late. Overall a great professor.

Great teacher. Smart guy. You just need to be willing to learn on a college level and listen to what he's saying. Many girls in my class were stuck in a highschool mind set and didn't want to put in any effort, which is probably why they'd give him bad reviews. I definitely recommend him.

Probably the best teacher in the department and I would highly reccommend him to anybody trying to take a low division physics class. However, if you come to SUNY Potsdam to learn upper division physics there are 2 things. 1 - you are making one of the worst decisions of your life. 2 - What were you thinking? You might pass, but you wont learn.

Easily the best teacher in physics here. The class was a little rickety at times, but he can pass on most of the ideas pretty well. I wish he had taught more of my classes. Now he's the chair and he teaches even less! Poor physics majors...

Just go to class everyday. Don't let him know if you are weak with Math. I got average scores on Tests and homework but he failed me because he found out I couldn't do algebra.
