Trautwein is so so nice and caring. He made the class a lot more enjoyable by making the atmosphere light. I did really bad on one of his exams and got very upset but he was so understanding. I ended up getting a 80% on the exam which was very gracious.

Man oh man, Dr. Trautwein was amazing. I had a rough Calc I prof, but he plans for people needing a calc review, and he clarified everything for me. He doesn't surprise you with anything; if something is hard, it's because it is, but he knows you can do it. Super accessible outside of class, very down-to-earth (you can call him Aaron), and funny.

Dr. Trautwein is phenomenal. If you aren't good at math, take his classes. He's a great teacher, he practically tells you exactly what's on his exams, and he's a genuinely nice guy.

Dr. Trautwein is the kind of professor who "spoon feeds" the material to you, but that's okay, especially when trying to learn the difficult concepts. He always reviews what's on the exam before it so you're always prepared. Plus his office hours are amazing, so don't be afraid to ask questions in and out of the classroom. He wants you to succeed!

He's literally why I'm able to do good in Calc. I'm really bad at it but he goes over it really fast but then he reviews everything before the tests and it helps a ton! definitely recommend him!

Took this in fall of 2013. Initially, I was intimidated by the pace of lectures and the difficulty of examples shown in class, but the homeworks and tests were much easier. Just know how to apply the techniques to the most basic examples and you'll likely get an A. The only bother was the container project. That was annoying.

Great teacher who makes the class fun and easy to understand. He is by far one of the easiest math professors at Carthage, so if you want to actually learn something and do well in the class, try to get him; you won't regret it! Also, don't spend extra money for that online math thing, because you don't use it.

In case you're confused by the comments below: Trautwein is the best. He offered to drive me downtown because I don't have a car. Seriously, he will go above and beyond to help you understand the material. You can do the exams anywhere you like, and you have all the time in the world. He'll meet you outside of office hrs. as well. Jesus is jealous.

One of my favorite professors. He is funny and tries his best to keep the class entertained. He is willing to do as much as he can to help you. The homework assignments are not graded on accuracy and he gives very few problems, not to mention he tells you everything that will be on a quiz or exam about a week in advance and the day before.

He is super enthusiastic, tells great stories, and is a great teacher. You will learn a lot! He uses projects so the really hard info isn't on tests. He only uses an hr of the lab time. His tests are easy, and he tells you what is on them a week before, so you know what to study. Only 10 homework problems/week.
