Comment:
Dr. Payton is tough but fair, the project in the DML takes the entire semester, and most don't finish. Dr. Payton is also strict, however, he helps out by grading class attendance, replacing your lower tests with your final exam score( if its higher), and gives you the opportunity to exempt the final.

Dr. Payton feels bad for not providing enough machines to finish the project so if you don't finish you get three weeks the following semester to complete your project and can still get an A in the class. If you have an A going into the final, he lets you exempt it. You have two tests, and I just used online quizlets to study and got A's on both.

Comes off as not a very nice guy, tries to be real tough on the first day (he is ex-military). Ends up being very helpful and forgiving. Tests are somewhat difficult, covering a lot of material and vocabulary. Project takes a long time so stay on top of it. He's the only choice for DML so it doesn't really matter.

Extremely easy to make an A in this class and Payton is awesome. Class can get off topic but it's always interesting. All tests are memorization based and you're given the questions (yes, the exact same questions) before hand. All you have to do to pass is go to class and study online. You can retake the tests if you fail. GPA BOOSTER!!!

Dr Payton is a great teacher. I loved hearing his Navy stories which he tells A LOT of them. Be prepared to show up to every class and study if you want an A. "Nukes don't miss training." He taught the class very well and was easy to get in contact with when needed. I wish he taught more of the nuclear classes.

I loved Dr. Payton. His basic nuke class was interesting and I learned a lot about nuclear theory, systems, and operations. I definately recommend this class and Payton. He likes to tell old war stories and can be a little intimidating bc of his nuclear navy background and knowledge. Just go 2 class and u wont regret it. Very unique teaching style.

Advanced Manufacturing Concepts. Free A. Nuff Said. Dr. Payton is the man, you will learn more with less effort than in any other class. He might like to talk a little bit, but its generally entertaining/useful. Weekly vocab quizzes, two vocab tests, and one statistics project. Only wish I could stay to take his INSY class next spring :(

Enjoyed learning how to use the DML. Already had a pretty decent knowledge of tools, so this was an easy A for me. Just come to each class.

DML class. The Monday Lectures are totally pointless. Dr. Payton is awesome couldn't be more helpful or clear. The class is pretty easy, just time consuming to finish the projects. If you can identify a screwdriver and look up tabulated data in the handbook then you will get A's on his tests.

Dr. Payton is an excellent instructor! He has a good sense of humor, a wealth of knowledge, and really knows what he's talking about when it comes to manufacturing. When you're in the shop and Dr. Payton opens his mouth, you better listen. This man is the truth! He makes a class that is mundane & boring into one fun and interesting. excellent!
