Comment:

Extremely tough professor. Won't actually show you how to do the programs, just puts them on the board. Acts as if you are dumb when you raise your hand and tells you to go to a tutor when you go to her office hours. She made an entry level course way too hard and almost impossible for many students. 100% wouldn't take again. I regret this class.

One of the rudest professors Ive ever had. She was rarely available for help, & when Id go she would tell me to go find a tutor. She does not care about her students unless theyre programming protégés. Lastly, her style of teaching is arguably the worst Ive had to deal with in regards to any programming professor Ive had. 10/10 avoid

Absolutely the worst professor I've ever had. Her class is ridiculously hard for an entry-level course. She doesn't explain anything clearly because she doesn't know enough to do so. Programs are impossible for beginners & lectures are difficult to follow; if you don't have someone experienced to help you, you will STRUGGLE in this class.

Comment:

For anyone with a background in Java, this class will likely be a breeze. Dr. Shashaani is a hard-working woman who certainly knows what she's talking about. It was, at times, difficult to understand her through the accent, but she is always willing to answers questions any student may have. Wonderful CS teacher overall.

You will regret taking her. Drop it before you get too far. Doesnt actually EXPLAIN how to do the work. She posts everything for you to copy and then gives an assignment that is no where near what she taught in class. Tests are handwritten programming, almost impossible to understand what is being asked or needed. Computer science tests on PAPER

Language barrier causes a lot miscommunication on her part. She has good intentions but needs to understand that this is an intro classes to programming. Doesn't go in detail with material and moves too fast.

She is my favorite teacher so far. Professor Shashaani is very helpful in the way that she teaches, she gives example programs in class and explains how they work very well. Professor Shashaani is also eager to help in any way she can. She always makes time for students with office hours, and quickly replies to emails.

She is the best cs prof at Duq. The best part of her teaching is not using powerpoint slides ! She always give sample codes before asking for any assignments unlike the other profs.

She is great. Really tries hard to help you out with whatever troubles you are having. She will approach you if you're doing badly and help you as much as she can with learning material. She is also pretty funny and her accent just makes everything more hilarious. In other words, I <3 Dr. Shashaani.

She made C++ easy for me, with no programming background. Her accent is, in my opinion, very entertaining. She definitely has a tendency to play favorites, but it's not hard to become a favorite. Just sit up front, take good notes, laugh at her jokes. She's friendly, she's reasonable, and the material's not hard at all.

Not a bad prof or difficult class if you have some programming background. Otherwise it may be tough since she likes to gloss over the details of some stuff. Kind of likes to yell at people for not paying attention but does so randomly: I never payed attention and played games but the kid next to me was yelled at daily. Accent isn't bad but funny.

Had this lady for Intro to Cpu Science, a 100 level course. She expects students in this class to do the same type of things her COSCI majors can do. I have never gotten a grade lower than a B in my 4 yrs of college and I got a C in this ridicoulsy, uncessarily difficult 100 level class. DO NOT TAKE HER! she also yells at students in class.

If you understand the difference between "witha" and "witha" meaning with and without of course, then this class will be a walk in the park. But if you feel that "backaslasha" is just a ridiculous term and that when someone is screaming at you for 2 hours is utterly unheard of, don't take. I regret it. Good luck if its mandatory for you!

She is a great teacher! It's a hard class...but she is VERY generous in the grading...no lie...i deserved a 40% on a test..if that...and she gave me an 88. The tests are hard, but she is soo funny and has a GREAT personality! i absolutely LOVE her and think she is very genuine and cares for each student!
