Took this class online as a maymester. I recommend everyone stay away from this unless you know everything that ever happened in music. I wrote a 700+ word discussion post and got a 1520 because my "topics were great, organized, and accurate but I didn't go into enough detail"....?!?! Just stay away from Gauvin if this is an elective!

Okay, so I cant stress enough how awful this woman is. I auditioned with her for the music program and despite me being visually nervous, she said id only get in if "no one else auditions" who says that?? (i did get it btw) Harsh and doesnt know the differnce between constructive critism and being mean. Ik of people who dropped the major b/c of her

This class was interesting but more work than I first thought. There are online outlines that really help and if you go to class it's pretty easy. She drops the lowest test grade and gives extra credit points for attending a concert. Professor is funny but very direct. Overall a good class.

This class rocked! I really learned how to use my voice in a new way and was able to sing songs that I thought I'd never sing once I learned how. Prof was helpful and fun but sticks to deadlines. Got to perform in a concert at the end of the semester with a full band. Take it!

Her notes do not match up with study guide. Her notes are highly unorganized. Impossible to follow what she is saying in class because she jumps from one topic to the next. She needs a new way of teaching! Easy A if you study for a day or two before the exam.

Online outline of material plus outline for what will be on the tests. Lots of material so that's a bit difficult so pay attention/study/read. Interesting/fun; she has a good sense of humor. iClicker for attendance. Not a bad class but paying attention is important or being able to read material and understand/memorize it.

Always late, but is extremely helpful if you need it. She's no push over and her exams are long and can be difficult to complete in the time block but she knows what she's talking about and really does care about your grade if you care. She's definitely worth it. I thought I'd get a C and I got a B- even after failing two exams terribly.

Professor Gauvin is great! She's got a great sense of humor, she knows what she's talking about, and she explains things well. There are four exams, which really require studying (unlike most assumption of History of Rock), but you can get an iclicker for an additional attendance grade. She drops the lowest grade out of the 5. Do it!

funny professor, but hard exams. thought this class would be easy, definitely wrong. she flies through the note slides, which she does ot post online. she doesnt give enough time to copy them down and refuses to go to previous slide. frustrating! considering the exams come off of the notes. i would recommend bringing a laptop to class to type them.

You won't fall asleep in this course! I had her for History of Rock, and we watched all sorts of videos and listened to her jive about the times. The tests definitely required studying for, and you have to be really clear in your notes. She keeps it real though. Overall, great course!

I took History of Rock with her and although I did poorly on the first exam, I followed her advice and did very well. She's an interesting teacher who doesn't take crap from anyone and she sticks to her rules. The one thing she doesn't suggest is using flash cards for the terms, once I did that I got a 100% on her next test. This class is too easy.

Nice and interesting lady. Willing to help you. However, the class was pretty hard if you don't study. She flies through the material so keep up. If you take her first class in the morning, she will almost always be late. I took this class cuz I thought it would be an easy A. I was very wrong. I don't recommend her to anyone...

This class is hard if you do not pay attention. If you go to class and read the book you will do well. The material is really interesting and the book is easy to read. You cover a lot of info so a lot of people complain but as long as you try the class is not that hard. And she scales the tests so it is a fair grade!

VERY bad teacher. absolutely incompetent to teach this class, in fact she doesn't even have a degree, that would qualify her to teach history of rock n' roll. she is awful at lecturing and just randomly starts singling in class. all she does is throw names at you, and shows youtube videos. Tests are very hard! does NOT help you out!
