AMAZING PROFESSOR! She truly cares about her students and wants them to succeed. Art History is no joke though, you have to pay attention, attend class, and take good notes, but if you do all that you will be fine! Just give yourself time to study and keep up with the Ids and you can absolutely get an A! Best professor at Furman by far!

I loved her. She's an art professor don't expect anything less. I learned so much in her class about art and ancient world cultures. Even at 830 am with the lights out, she peaked my interest in the subject. Write down EVERYTHING from the lecture. You will see those little fun facts on testsquizzes in the form of EXTRA CREDIT Those got me an A.

Dr. Watkins class was a nightmare. She gives no direction and will demolish your grade. If you are not a mind reader or an art history major avoid Watkins at all costs! I cant even express how much I hate this professor...

One of the best professors at Furman! She's genuinely interested in her subject and the well-being of her students. Take the time to talk to her outside of class, it helps your grade!! Bring a laptop to type notes, or you will not be able to keep up. Other than that, she's understanding of furman's rigor and has no problems moving deadlines. A+!!

Dr. Watkins is by far one of my favorite professors at Furman. She is spunky, loves the subject, and truly cares about the students. She is definitely has some of the quirks of the classic art teacher, but it makes her all the more endearing. TAKE A CLASS WITH HER!! You'll learn more than you thought possible.

Has here. Has a professional background in biology/anatomy before going into art history, which leads to some cool comments. Flew through lots of material and still didn't get past 1900, but covered what she did thoroughly. If you can't write quickly, bring a laptop to take notes, or you'll be lost. Textbook for fun; online study tool is ESSENTIAL.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this class. She has a genuine interest for the subject matter and is open to varying opinions as long as you can back it up. Some people have a problem with her use of the phrase "that we have here" but I honestly never noticed her say it. Always willing to help, even after the course is over. Sweetest lady ever.

By far one of my favorite professors at Furman. She knows what she is talking about and structures the class specifically for the students. Cancelled Friday classes! Her office door is always open and she really wants you to do well. Make notecards and take good notes. Could have used a slide list, but got along fine without it. Finish paper early!

annoying speech in general. the class in general is a way for her to stroke her ego. the class is relatively easy if you are willing to spit back everything she says to you in class. if you deviate from her opinion, you're just wrong even though its ART. warns you to write down everything in her class, but talks way too fast. be prepared to stress!

Oh and make sure that any papers you turn in are formatted correctly and neat. In my experience it can have a big impact on your grade if everything looks neat and tidy. shes a good teacher and really cares, but be prepared to study hard. unmerciful when it comes down to it, but very keen to help if you need it.

Nice enough lady, but she drove me crazy. Nobody cares what "We have here." The slides were awful, but that wasn't really her fault I guess. Wouldn't recommend.

This one's a toughie: She is a nice lady and all, but she tried to cover way to much material for this course. Powerpoint slides of the images were illegible. As someone said earlier, she has some serious "speech idiosyncracies" that can be distracting and drive you nuts (ex: she ends ever statement with "that we have here...) I would say aviod.

Huzzah! Very nice teacher with lots and lots of enthusiasm--if you have any interest in art at all, you'll see a whole new world. Lots of memorization, but fairly easy. A few idiosyncracies ("again"), but you tend not to notice after a while.

Extremely smart and nice woman. Very tough class though because of the material covered, don't expect an easy A, but the work that needs to be done is clear. Fantastic teacher!! (seems mean early on, but is very understanding)
