I was ready for C-, but a B+ is like an A++++ for me already. She's WELL-INFORMED so read! Read! Read! Very specific pop quizzes and exams. Short response of the exam is one sentence instruction with a blank page for you write, so memorize whatever she says in class. M/C and T/F is based on luck. For international students, just switch out.

Comment:

Honestly, Hollenback is one of my favorite professors at Syracuse University. At first, she may seem intimidating, as others have said, but she cares so much and uses tough love to prepare you for the real world. She truly works you hard but her class is really enjoyable and she wants the best for each of her students. She is really funny too!

Very caring and knowledgable professor, but boy is her class hard. RELIGIOUSLY read the textbook and the NYTimes everyday in order to get a good grade. Current events quizzes are insanely specific and tests are incredibly hard. There's also 3 critical response papers, tough and specific grader. Switch out if you can.

Comment:

Professor Hollenback is a very well-informed woman. She knows the field very well and is extremely helpful when it comes to learning. While at first she may come off as slightly harsh, it's easy to see that she cares about her students very much and wants the best for them. I highly recommend her classes, as she is very educational.

Prof. Hollenback is quite intimidating and could seem rude at times, but BOY she tells you what you did wrong. She will give you great feedback. She is knowledgeable and will teach the full duration of the class. Make sure you take half decent notes, buy the text book, and read the NY Times once a week at least. She prepares you for college well.

She can be interrupting/intimidating. But I gotta give it to her, she was very genuine. She requires that you meet with her at the beginning of the semester so she can get to know you. I only met with her twice all semester but she's there to help. You'll get something out of a meeting with her. Also refers to herself in third-person.

At first I wasn't a fan. On the surface she seems sort of mean. Go into office hours and get to know her. She cares so much about her students but she's not going to babysit you. She's tough but fair. I've ended up really liking her but you have to work hard in her class. Getting to know her is key. She's one of my favorite professors.

Hollenback is definitely the hardest COM107 professor. She knows what she's talking about but is extremely condescending towards everyone in the class. She is friendly and wants to help students, but doesn't listen to you, she interrupts in the middle of your questions. I wouldn't suggest her, but its not the end of the world if you have her.

Hollenback is tough, but she's still a great professor. She is very nice and knowledgable. She won't coddle you and she is definitely a tough grader but you will learn. Read the textbook and keep up with current events or things are gonna get tough. She wants to help, so go to her if you have questions.

At first Hollenback is very intimidating, she sets the ground rules right off that bat. However, it's through her toughness that I became a better writer. In fact she's inspired me to think about pursuing a career in screenwriting. This is college. Don't expect to be babied. If you actually want to make your money's worth, then take TRF 211 with he

Professor Hollenbeck seemed intimidating at first, but as the semester progressed I really started to appreciate her extensive knowledge. By no means is the class easy and the tests are derived directly from class notes. Be sure to go to office hours because she wants to help!

DO NOT TAKE HER. switch out before too late. Ridiculously hard and makes sense and not a good class. When I think about how much money is spent on my education, I am disgusted that I had to spend a whole semester with her.

Hollenback is very pompous and sarcastic. She treats the TAs like garbage. However, she does have a lot to teach and is very experienced in her field. I learned a lot, but it was hard to like her as a person. Also, don't expect to get any tests or essays back within a month.

She's an amazing person but a tough professor. She will be there every step of the way as long as you put in the effort. GO TO OFFICE HOURS! They will be your best friend. I got A's on all the exams. Read the book, and you MUST attend class because all of her tests are derived from her lectures. If you memorize her lecture notes, you're golden.

Professor Hollenback is a very nice woman outside of the classroom, but I don't recommend taking her class. I've studied and gotten an A- on the essay but I'm still looking at earning a C+B- thanks to the current events quizzes (which are borderline impossible even if you read) and the difficult tests.
