Comment:

3rd year English class ran more like a social science course, with high expectations for writing ability. What's important is not always made clear in lecture but if you don't give her exactly what she's looking for in tests and papers you will not do well. Topic was interesting but lectures are not engaging and run like a high school class

Not helpful at all outside of class.. pretty caught up in her own sense of self.. I initially thought she was really cool and helpful but she ended up seeming really conceded and not caring.

My least favourite professor I've had in my time at Guelph. She made me re-write an essay because I had done something wrong within the steps of doing it. She gave me instructions to follow with the re-write and still, received a failing mark. I would not suggest anybody to take a class with her.

Comment:

Amazing professor. I loved every class I took with her. She's an easy marker (as long as she can tell you did the background work), likes you more if you attend class (no surprise), and encourages students to think for themselves and consider new ways of viewing the world. Any serious university student should appreciate this class.

Comment:

I've taken two classes with Nandorfy. She seems to be either loved or hated with equal passion. I happen to be one of the students who LOVED her classes. Nandorfy is a fair marker, and doesn't hesitate to challenge students in their writing and world-view. Definitely recommend her to anyone who loves learning!

She spent more time summarizing novels than analyzing them and her analyses typically weren't that in depth. She is cold, rude, lacks clarity and her marking scheme was inconsistent. I will not willingly have her as a Professor again.

If at all possible, I'd avoid her class. I'll admit she is highly knowledgeable but that doesn't make up for her being extremely bias and rude. She discourages any difference of opinion and insults your intelligence if you ask for help or clarification. She made an already boring class into a nightmare.

I have had this professor for two classes. She is very biased and will make it impossible for you to do well once you have fallen into the category of someone she dislikes. She is rude and rather cold. DO NOT take a class with her. Everyone I have talked to, that has had a class with her hates her and would never take a class again with her.

Comment:

Nandorfy won't hesitate to challenge students to think about their contributions and the language they use, which can be a good thing, though she can be very blunt at times. If you're a sensitive person, don't expect rainbows and smiles, and don't take it personally.

Lectures are very dry/not enganging in the least, but she comes across that very honestly in the first class so if people didnt like it i dont know why they didnt drop it. Also she doesn't have much interaction with us, but ive experienced no bias or "coldness", she just seems to want us to/gets frusterated with our inabilty to think for ourselves

This professor clearly knows her stuff, but I don't understand how as a human being you can just go up to the front of a class and talk for an hour and 20 minutes and not try to be engaging whatsoever.Is this learning?
