The professor herself is sweet, but for this class she had us buy two books. Each week we would usually read 2-3 chapters from the books & then watch two videos which were usually 10-15 min long. Each source had a similar but different outlook on the same subject & we had to know the tiny differences between each which made the tests difficult.

I took her for upper division class and I think she gets frustrated by students that dont care about grades. If you are a senior taking class you will see how easy freshman classes are. She was really smart and funny!

Dr. M is cool! Very happy to help me outside class. I think she cares about students. She can go off topic but I think that is a teacher tactic to be more like us. I watched and she always knows whtsup

Dr. McPherson is a very sweet woman, that said, my review is based strictly on her teaching / organization style. As a teacher, she is highly unorganized and all over the place. She gives very unclear instructions, her class is actually really confusing and I do not see the significance in what she is teaching. Her lectures are just not engaging...

I took her online summer intersession class. The content itself is not too difficult. We had 3 short papers and six 25 point tests (2 per week) She altered the class when people struggled and made it easier to get a passing grade. She really wants you to succeed but you also have to work hard. Its college, if it were easy everybody would do it!

She's a great teacher really helps you to understand the material. I highly recommend taking her online class, and to study. There are a lot of terms to remember , and reading to comprehend.

I'm taking her hybrid class right now and she's terrible, avoid at all costs. Extremely unprofessional and disorganized. I tried emailing her once and no response. Class consists of weekly online quizzes (riddled with spelling errors), 4 short papers, 2 midterms (the first one was easy if you follow the reading guides) and a final project.

Reading every week with a paper due that is not graded till end of semester. This teacher is very unprofessional. Cares more for her own personal matters than yours. Lots of problems with writing prompts and quizzes being loaded on Beachboard. I wouldn't recommend this class

Taking her hybrid class. Weekly quizzes and writing prompts, 2 exams, 1 presentation. Material is interesting but her actual lectures don't really pertain to what we're learning at times. She also does not grade in a timely manner. Wouldn't take her again. Recommend the class though if you're interested in the subject matter.

Loved her class, even though i had her only one day a week, i prefer her more than MW instructors since she was more engaging. Book is essential for the class! Quizzes every week :(

I only had her during Fridays but she was very helpful and clear. Even though she pretty much used powerpoints throughout the lectures, she also puts videos and interesting comments as well. It's helpful during quizzes and makes it more organized and clear. Also her little daughter is pretty cool!

Comment:
Dr. McPhearson was pleasant, and helpful. Although I read all the materials and studied all the keys terms, tests and quizzes were difficult as the terms were purposely paraphrased in complex ways. I have taken many classes at CSULB and none were taught like this one. This class would have been more effective if it was easier to comprehend.

Took her hybrid course- one day online, one day in class. She expected too much out of us. Very disorganized, not helpful, not understanding. She had excuses but we couldn't. No exceptions. 2 quizzes every week plus discussion question. one final, one midterm- both were ok. Don't take the class unless it's your only class during summer session.

Only had her on Friday lectures, but she was so friendly and really made everything so easy to understand. Lots of interaction w/ students. Had InterACT come in one day, so fun! I had Nick Fox as a student teacher. He was also friendly, makes material relatable and fun. Easy class. Just don't forget there's weekly online quizzes!!

Disorganized, things are not graded in a timely manner. Doesn't lecture on things that will actually help you. Is late for nearly everything, including office hours, class, and returning work. Is also not helpful or understanding. Criticizes you instead of building you up. Do not take.

Dr.McPherson is outgoing and a really sweet person. Her teaching is great, but her exams are awful! :/ If you have her make sure you read a lot and study your notes! Overall I would recommend her if you like to read.

Mary is not only a lovely person but she's a great Prof. I hate stats (comm major) but she made it as easy as possible. Willing to help, understanding, clear, exams/assignments are pretty straightforward to (study guides/outlines/examples). Would recommend and take again.
