Comment:
Took him for a lab based class, lectures well and goes on tangents but theyre well meaning tangents. Lab portion takes a while, but is extremely eye opening and fun. You get a chance to work with equipment other undergrad physics students could only dream of. Truly an inspirational professor though, he makes you WANT to learn, to grow. Great guy.

Most helpful teacher I've ever had, if you get lost he will take time to stay after class and help you. Physics isn't my strong point and I wouldn't have passed the class without his kindness and patience. He never made me feel dumb, and did just tell me the answer but led me to it like a teacher should. Made me want to take the whole series.

Dr. Braunstein is an amazing teacher. He is very good at what he does and is always there to help students regardless of their knowledge level. He challenges the top students while catering to those struggling with the new topic. Beware of time conflicts, if he is teaching many classes you won't get much feedback. Otherwise a great teacher!

Braunstein's classes are always hard but worth the effort. He's always willing to help with anything and is funny & nice. Probably my favorite professor in Physics department.

Comment:
Dr. Braunstein is an extremely intelligent and hardworking professor. All of the poor reviews come from students taking introductory level classes who do not truly care or have a passion for physics. Those who have had Dr. B for upper level courses agree that although his classes are tough he is an outstanding professor.

The teaching style of this professor did not work well for me. I quickly lost interest and had an impossible time of paying attention. I found this class to be discouraging and frustrating. Looking back I suppose I learned from it, but I'm not sure it was worth the time and energy I had to put into decoding what the prof wanted.

Comment:
DHC students do not take Braunstein unless you LOVE physics and calculus. This is not a class on History of Science. This is a physics class in disguise. We spent so much time on MATH (calculus) and very little on history. This could be a really awesome class but he butchers it. Last spring I was either bored, confused, frustrated or all three.

Had him for Astronomy. I like astronomy, but his teaching of astronomy confused me. I gained nothing useful from the class. Smart guy though, but perhaps not in astronomy.

He is extraordinarily intelligent, has a strong passion for teaching physics, does lots of demonstrations in lower level courses, and really cares about helping you learn. He is a strict grader and you will have to try in his courses but you will learn more than you will with your average instructor.

Definately enthousiastic, has a hands-on interactive approach that demands involvement, uses lots of visual aids and takes time outside of class to help students prepare for tests. Physics is not an easy subject, but he does everything what he can to help you learn it.

Has a lot of energy. Not good at explaining introduciton physics. Smart, but gives really hard tests and is a little bit misguiding on what to study. Not really good at answering questions in a simply manner. Good guy, loves physics, just don't take him for an introduction course.
