He is so boring however its a pretty easy class. It was a W course and we only had 3 papers to do. They can be tricky but he will help you. I barely went to class, he gets kind of upset though when you don't show up. He speaks very soft and goes on rampages.Over all, I'd take him again because he is a decent grader. Must buy the book, its cheap too

If you want to hear him sit in the front of the room bc he won't raise his voice above a whisper, otherwise its a good place to get homework/ studying done. His grading has no rhyme or reason and he waits until the last month of the semester to assign all papers. The class is a waste of time, don't take him. illegible, incomprehensible.

Great class! I enjoyed Dr. Cullen, yea he mostly lectures, but it gives you time to catch do readings for something else. He's very understanding. Just follow with the readings every once & a while. Tests might seem hard, but all the info is in the book, just look it up & use the internet for a little extra help. Glad he's still teaching!!

If you do not buy the book, there is no hope for you. This is the most boring class i have ever taken. Over half the class was never there, and the people who went just slept the whole time. Understanding what he is say, or what he is talking about is impossible, we all went to get some extra sleep... dont take!!!

Most boring class i have ever participated in. I go there to fall asleep again, play tetris on my phone, and do homework for other classes. My head snaps back, when i fall asleep, and i go right back to sleeping.

Boring. Usually I know what my grade is gonna be and why, not with this guy. Nice person, made Plato and Aristotle (Gods!) bland as wonder bread toast. Never will I take this guy again, take Gilliland instead - he's interesting and fair. This guy is pulling sleeping rabbits out of the grading hat.

Do not take this class. He is sooo boring i have not learned a think this semester, at 8:00 in the morning its just better to sleep then go to his class. i learned nothing. Buy the book, its your only saving grace on his all essay question tests. Also, there is no right answer, he grades everything like a philosopher, he also writes illegibly!!!

He's a very interesting and approachable guy, and really enjoys what he teaches. I understand a lot of students get 'bored' with his style because it's straight lecturing. If you listen, you will find he fills in a lot what the book doesn't have, and adds a lot from his experience. He's a good teacher.

He should retire, he mumbles and you do not understand anything he is saying. 1/3 of the class is left at the end of the year and he gives take home tests that are extremely difficult and time consuming and not worth the poor grades he gives out. A waste of my time.

One of the best professors. He really knows the material and does a good job of explaining the difficult material. I'm happy he is still teaching and is a great add to the Philosophy Dept. at Southern.

The most singularly boring class ive ever had the misfortune of sitting through. No one ever knows what the hell hes talking about. Does not encourage discussion. Not really interested in anything other than the sound of his constant monotonous prattle. Do not take this coarse. You have been warned.

Comment:
The bad part is: nature of the material is so extensive that it needs to be summarized somewhere - the book, handouts or lecture - and it's not. That's what makes the class tough, and discourages participation. The good part is: he's a nice guy, & really knows his stuff.

Dr. Cullen presents this somewhat difficult material in a clear manner. He really knows his stuff. This class is not a "give-away" for grades because the student must work at staying on topic in the assigned writing.

Excellent professor. Retired Jesuit priest who fleshes out basic philosophical concepts. This is useful for students who are already familiar with these concepts. One of the best philosophy professors anywhere.
