She's passionate, but the class is literally raw memorization. That's never been a problem for me, but people left with their GPA's wrecked. Lab was boring but really easy since you can just google what you have to draw. Frankly, it's as simple as this: Lots of plant memorization(tests not cumulative tho), no book except for lab, must get clicker.

I would not recommend her as a teacher. If you are good at going to class and memorizing from simply lectures, fine. She does not present material in an easy to digest way. She says class is not mandatory, but if you want a passing grade it 100% is. Unless you are okay with looking over slides and missing 100 points from daily quizzes.

I am not a BIO major, nor am I really interested in science, but she makes this class interesting. She gives out 2-questions clicker quizzes during class, but drops your lowest 5 quizzes. She is really passionate about what she teaches, which shows in her lectures.

She is clearly passionate about her material but she likes to go off on tangents. Not afraid to put opinions into lectures and generally biased (for example, promotes organic with no consideration to GMO arguments AT ALL). Lectures are dry. In class quizzes are helpful for grade but very detailed and not much time to copy lecture slides.

She's not the most amazing and interesting professor ever, but this class is fairly easy and she's a good enough teacher. One or two 2-question clicker quizzes per lecture (you can use your notes), and she drops your 5 lowest graded quizzes. Just write down the info from the powerpoint slides and listen in class. The textbook is also very helpful.

As a Botany major I can understand the hate she receives from non-science major students who took this class as a pre-req. Her questions are very ambiguous, she expects you to memorize nearly a thousand slides to a T, lab sucks, mandatory attendance, and if you complain about your exam grade she simply says "you aren't looking at the big picture"

One of the worst professors I've had, not much has changed apparently. You need to know every word of her slide shows in order to get a decent grade. She spends most of the class talking about how good of a teacher is because she's read books on how to teach and spends the rest of her times pointing at pictures saying how beautiful everything is

I'll admit this was a very tough course, but I also found that getting an A was doable. The lectures can be complex at times and she has trouble explaining, but the evolution textbook explains concepts VERY clearly. Her exams are based on memorizing AND applying the information on the PRWPT SLIDES..Like me, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND TAKING BOT 155 FIRST!

Worst class I have ever taken in my life. Dumbest teacher I haver ever had in my life. The fact that she is the head of the botany department baffles me. Attendance is worth as much as the final so she feels important or else nobody would go because all she does is read the slides.tests are very unfair-50 MC she reuses & u nvr get to see your tests

Great professor, one of my favorites at Miami so far. She's crystal clear, helpful, and very friendly. We have quizzes every day, but 5 are dropped and you get a few extras. The lab can be a little dull, but what labs aren't? The tests aren't easy, but as long as you go through the slides you'll do well. I really enjoy the class.

This teacher was incredibly hard. The class was taught like we were in high school but were tested like we were in grad school. Make sure to go to every class because there will be a quiz. I would avoid this professor. YOU WILL NEVER USE THE TEXTBOOK SO DO NOT BUY IT!

You must attend EVERY class because you will have a really hard quiz that most people do awful on. She is not willing to curve even if most people get the questions wrong. I hated this class and this teach. AVOID HER

WORST PROF EVER! DO NOT TAKE! She is the worst teacher and her tests are on the smallest details in class. She gives a quiz EVERY class that she claims are "easy" but everyone fails. She is not willing to help. Her class is boring and tests are impossible. The lab is a small portion of your grade which does not help. AVOID THIS TEACHER!!!

This class was a lot of fun. We went outside a lot and the professor is really nice. She'll answer any questions and is very willing to help. It is an easy A, the lab is during regular class time, and it is a sprint class. What more could you ask for. I highly recommend it.

Great professor, I had her for field botany and if the weather was too hot or cold, she'd cut class short... Extremely helpful, very knowledgeable. Tests are comprehensive but not hard if you study for 1-2 hrs, basically just memorization. Couldn't recommend this class/prof more!!

I took the summer course with her, and she made it alot of fun! I'm a music major so I had no interest in the class going in, but now I have a whole new respect for the environment around me! She's also a real sweetheart. Just don't miss class, and make sure you memorize ALL the Latin names, and you're good to go! Loved this class! Take it!

She is horrible at doing her job. Reads the PowerPoint̢۪s word for word and does not actually teach anything. Never used our books. The lecture part of her course counts for too much and the lab is a very little part of the grade. Counts attendance as much as the final exam. Do not take her!

She is the dumbest teacher I have ever had. Do not take this class if you can avoid it. If you do take it, do NOT buy the text book. She doesn't even know what she is describing half the time, and her slides are filled with spelling and grammatical errors. You can't skip the class either, cuz she takes points off your grade after 3 absences.

Snore. This class is fairly easy if you're not interested in science, which is because it's essentially 10th grade biology...only much more poorly explained. What a bore. The lab is alright, but she rambles on and on in lecture, doesn't explain anything very well, and comes off pretty ditzy. We had to buy new textbooks and hardly used them, too.
