Anyone who whines about him being stuck up and only caring about his own views clearly should not be in the COMM field. I have never had such an unorthodox professor in my life, and it's a nice change. It inspires me to think about things from all angles, which is especially important when applying it to real life.

Doesn't believe in tests. He often says that he rather hear what you've learned through an actual debateconversation rather than through quizzes, etc. Very cool teacher who wants you to challenge his ideas in a respectful manner of course, but wants to get you engaged in the topic at hand. Best professor I've ever had.

Honestly, one of the best professors I have ever had! Took him for both my 1000 and 3100 level COMM Courses at UCONN. Very clear, funny, and always willing to help. TIP: Always ask him to look at/comment on your paper drafts. His comments are VERY helpful and thoughtful. I hold him in high regard. Jalbert is the BEST.

I'll admit, I had some trouble with this class at first. You learn about three theories and then you have to apply them in your first paper. Thankfully, Jalbert doesn't hesitate to meet with you for extra help, which is what saved me. The class is challenging and makes you think outside the box. Thankfully no quizzes or tests! Deff recommend him :)

Wonderful Professor! Willing to help his students- just ask. Will offer a "tet-a-tet" to look at midterm essays- take advantage of it! He says tet-a-tet's are for those doing poorly, but they are helpful either way- even if you are doing well! Easy on lateness, just don't make it a habit. Taking Comm 3100 with him in spring- he is excellent!

I took him over the Winter Session and how anyone can say he is tough is beyond me. He wants you to learn to think outside of the box. The material can be a bit hard to get used to but he is not a bad or hard professor. He's interesting.

I would recommend to take Jalbert's COMM 1000 class. He is a great teacher, who although can be a bit opinionated at times has you always listening and has an interesting way of putting things so that you are never too bored while in class. As an average student myself i would say his grading is a bit tough so try your hardest and show effort!

The best Professor!I took almost all my comm classes with him and I still keep my notes from class and recommendations. he teaches so much, I learn so much from him. You only need to be alert and listen to what he says because he is a wise man. Love you Professor Jalbert

Although it was a intro COMM class, his teachings was based of sociology. We didnt need a textbook. He loves papers- vignettes, and essay. He also made us listen to noncorporate radio. He is very opinionated.

Took the basic level comm class. Complete waste of time, although, he can be a bit funny. This guy is so stuck up on his views and doesn't like to be challenged. If I heard about Noam Chomsky one more time, I may have jumped out a window.

Jalbert means well, but his lectures can be a bit dry. He's completely opposed to learning/cramming from a textbook, so we only write two critical papers. He encourages class discussion, but it should be noted that he is unabashedly opinionated. He always says he wants his students to fight the man and change the world.

Awful! He insists he is always right because "that's the way it is" no matter how stupid the comment he made is. He seems to care for the student but grades ruthlessly... and rewrites don't get much better... also makes you listen to a radio station all year. If you forgo common sense and you will pass with flying colors.

Jalbert is one of the best professors I have had. Yes, his classes are abstract but a refreshing departure from heavy text book work. He wants you to think critically and write analytically. Classes are easy and he grades fairly.

no textbooks, no exams. its 2-5 major papers depending on the class. but, be warned, if you actually care about the material being presented, don't expect to disagree with him and get a good grade despite what he says about forming your own opinions. he basically teaches to **** his own political agenda and as no interest in teaching the curriculum

Had him for a prof years ago--basically taught me to hate my country. Also his class had ZERO to do with broadcasting. Then again, I did not take one broadcasting course in Communications at UCONN!
