Comment:
The professor was an unfair teacher. His partial credit system only allowed you to earn up to half as much points as the question. You could miss a negative sign or decimal point and its marked wrong. Also, he took away points from students grades due to a "canvas error" on a test two days after the fact with no if, ands or buts. DO NOT TAKE!

This class was made way more difficult than it needed to be. This professor's lecture notes were absolutely horrendous and a complete waste of time to show up to lecture. I taught myself the entire course through youtube and doing physics everyday for 8+ hours a day and that is no exaggeration.

Dr. Leilabady was a good professor. He really knows what he is talking about but his lectures alwere very confusing. He has a great personality. Most of the grades are from tests, very little homework.

this man does not care about the class at all. his teaching material is old and unorganized. he doesn't like responding to emails and is always rude. and the material gone over in his packets for you to learn (practice problems) are a different material than what will be on the test. I don't know how you're supposed to be able to pass the tests

Do the extra credit, three tests and one is dropped. Overall it is a hard class, I ended up stop going to class and do the drop in tutoring and self studying. Worked for me, though if you have problems being motivated then go to class. Funny professor, though has a hard sense of humor, so if you ask a question prepared to be questioned back.

Dr. Pedram Leilabady teaches physics in a very nice way. He does tend to go very fast in his lectures but he will slow down if you are unsure of certain things. He makes very good analogies with the abstract concepts needed to learn for this class. Oh, and his sense of humor makes the class more interesting than ever. Definitely recommend.

Comment:
Professor Leilabady is obviously an incredibly smart man and knows what he is talking about. However he fails spectacularly at attempting to convey this information. To be fair the entire physics department at UNC Charlotte is probably the worst to ever exist so it's not just this one professor. Also your entire grade is based off of three exams.

Hilarious teacher who really knows what he is talking about. Ask as many questions as you need, as he will only move on if you don't let him know that you need clarification on something. If you still don't get it, ask again, and again and again until you get it. He will find a way to explain it to you. Attendance is pretty important to get an A.

Hes one of the best professors Ive had. Hes really funny, and understands that physics is a difficult subject to grasp. He genuinely wants to help the students, and is willing to go over a topic as many times as needed for someone to understand it. The only grades are the tests, but the online homework is all extra credit and helps a lot.

Dr. Leilabady is the single best professor I've had at Charlotte, and I fully intend to take his 2102 after taking 2101 with him. He explains the concepts very well, answers questions, and his fantastic sense of humor makes the whole semester bearable. 254% would recommend.

Possibly one of the best teachers I've ever had. He is funny and does a great job explaining the material and trying different angles to make you understand. I suggest Khan academy over the book and to do his problem session packets and previous tests. You'll do great if you just practice.

I think he's been doing this so long he forgot how to teach. Homework, lectures, and tests have nothing in common. The only way to pass is to practice using his old tests. Homework is only valuable as extra credit. Lectures have no value whatsoever, he consistently goes over things that aren't tested and spends too much time doing algebra.

Overall he is a good teacher, probably the best in the physics department, although that's not saying much at uncc. Makes jokes about his mother in law which is pretty funny and always asks questions on what we need help with. Required recitation sessions which sucked but definitely helped my understand of the material. Recommend!

Fair grading across all tests. Will allow extra credit by either doing HW or attending PALS sessions. Allows participation to be fun/funny during lecture, material is hard to comprehend, book isn't req'd, TAs available everyday & provide good feedback. Attendance is important if you're new to physics. Practice tons and attend PALS for extra help.

Dr. L hands out too many Ls. Only 4 tests in this class, and while they are simple, the lectures in between those tests are confusing, not clear, and the important concepts are not stressed enough. DO THE WEBASSIGN FOR 5 POINTS! That saved my grade. And even that I couldn't do without Chegg, because the in class problems arent like the HW AT ALL.

I was really looking forward to this class. To do well I had to review topics before they are covered in class by watching Dr. Aktas lecture videos, going to lecture and ask/answer questions, go to PALS tutoring and again ask/answer questions. I got a C in PHYS 2101: Physics 1 but I got a strong A in this class (90 on the final exam).

Prof Leilabady is definitely not as bad as the other comments make it seem. Took it during Summer session 1. Biggest problem is that its super fast paced. Go to the lectures and copy down his problems - similar problems with different numbers on his exams. No textbook/webassign use.

Dr. Leilabady is probably your best bet for physics 1 and 2, but I was still not impressed by his class. Lectures were alright, but test grading criteria was all over the place. I recommend copying his lecture example problems verbatim, as he often based tests off of them.

Comment:
There have been multiple problems throughout the semester on tests where I misinterpreted what his questions were asking due to the cryptic and minimalist mindset he makes them in. Going to class and doing homework will not prepare you to do well on his tests. He finds pleasure in creating problems that students have not been previously exposedto
