Olson is a great guy, but awful intro level philosophy professor. He makes up words and uses the same words over and over. One class i counted him using the work "self" he said self 162 times in an hour! I could easily sleep through the class it's so pointless. Easy to get decent grades though.

Professor Olson is a great person and teacher. He really cares about his students' learning and loves what he teaches. I took two classes with Professor Olson and loved them both. I'm not a philosophy major and I still enjoyed his course. As long as you go to class and take good notes, you'll be fine.

Alright guy but very hard to follow as a professor. Makes it hard to focus because he CONSTANTLY paces in the front of the classroom reading his note card. Also makes up words.

Passionate professor who really cares about his students. His lectures are usually pretty clear. Course work is not too heavy and his quizes are usually easy if you do the assigned reading.

Great professor. Made the material really solid and concrete. I felt like I was understanding it. He does pace the whole class period long, but you get used to that. Sometimes he writes exam questions in a different way than he told us. He obviously loves what he does and cares about the students. I'm taking another class with him this semester.

I've taken 2 classes with prof Olson and i loved them both. PH is tough to be clear about anyway but he lets you know exactly what to do for exams so as long as you take notes you'll do fine. Very qualified for what he is doing.

Nice guy, definitely. But for those minds with their own thinking, he is not for you; he only likes his own answers. Failed to drive discussions.

Boring, do not take a class with him that meets for more than 50 minutes. Uses big words, but he LOVES what he does. Exams are straight forward, just write down everything he says

really boring but thats b/c i have no interest in Plato. We had weekly reading quizes which you could easily pass if you read the spark notes. 3 exams but he tells you exactly what to study. You can't miss this class or your grade will suffer

Olson is condescending and in his own little world. He tries to drag out of you exactly what he wants to hear, but humors the "sufficent" answers you are able to provide. If you fall asleep in class prepare for complete humiliation!

Took the Honors class. Olson is extremely well qualified to lead the debates, and when class discussions got going, it was very fun. Sometimes the lecturing got boring, but that happens in every class.
