One of the wisest, smartest, and kindest professors at Rutgers (and proof that you can get a solid education at a school that isn't Ivy League). I loved every minute of Communication and Human Values, and I think his best trait is his tendency to ask us to *precisely* explain our views - it encourages so much productive, thoughtful discussion.

He is without a doubt one of the best teachers i've had at Rutgers, let alone the journalism school. He is thought provoking and inspiring.Lots of reading but engages you in class so for once the readings actually mean something. Develops you as an individual, pushing you to present thoughts and argue clearly. a true jem in the teaching profession

This is a professor I will never forget. The class is very thought-provoking and he knows a lot about the field. Try to participate in class, since he cares what you have to say. It's not hard to get an A if you do your written work, one 1-2 page paper almost every week. Take him regardless of your major. Because of him, I read the news & vote.

He is very knowledgeable. Really kind. Expects you to read a book each week or watch a film in media center every week. Get out early a lot (for 3 hr class only had to go in for 1 hr group meetings). Likes when you speak up, or at least try.

I FAILED his 3 pop quizzes & still got away w/ a B+ the class. if he sees that u participate & improve, will give u a higher grade. be prepared 2 read 1 book and watch 1 movie every week

For three hours, the class is boring. there is NO journalism in this class, like everyone else said, its 110% based on history! You MUST read his book he assigns the first few weeks bc he gives pop quizzes and after that, i still read bc he did give other pop quizzes. hes smart and it was an honor to take him but doesnt justify

Worse class I ever took at rutgers.hated his style of teaching. He is very knowledgable and very experienced but it doesnt mean hes a good teacher. He teaches a history class instead of journalism. actually he doesnt teach...he just talks to you like you know it already.DO NOT TAKE unless your a geek willing to read gone with the wind in a few days

He's wonderful! He's the most interesting and brilliant man I've ever met. He absolutely cares about his students, and wants them to learn. It's a challenging class, but it really makes you learn. He has so much life experience with media it's amazing. DEFINITE A!

a very long, very boring class. a lot of reading. your final grade is basically based off one thing, the final exam, which isn't so hard, but overall the class is such a waste of time..

This is an honors seminar he teaches every fall. This man is the most brilliant person I've ever met- do not pass up getting to have him teach you. Although he assigns a lot of work, he grades sort of easily, so getting a decent grade isn't a problem. HE'S SO SMART! And he really cares about the class, too. It's awesome

Knows a lot about the underlying meanings of different media -- film, fiction, nonfiction, documentaries. A lot of reading assignments, but this class really encourages you to be a critical thinker and expository writer. A good class for people who actually want to learn. Sometimes pop essay quizzes. Long final exam, but you get ?s in advance.

Do not take his class....I had to withdrawal from the class because he taught the class as though it is a history class. I learned nothing about actual media and how it deals with the American Image. Lots of reading in short time periods. STAY AWAY!!!

Coolest guy ever. He has experienced everything anyone possibly could in the field of media and brings this experience into the classroom. He assigns a lot of reading, but his class is great. If you are willing to do a little work for the benefit of a great class, definitely take him.

HE'S AWFUL AND HE LOOKS MORE THAN A DAY OLDER THAN 80. He expects you to read books like "Gone With The Wind" within a week and still give SPECIFIC details about it. He's AWFUL!
