The most interesting lecturer I have probably had at UIC. I loved going to class and learning. Unfortunately professor Potter doesn't use blackboard, and with the COVID situation doesn't even actually teach class anymore. He just handed us the slides and assigned group projects. Kind of a letdown, and it felt like he just threw us in the dust.

Avoid taking IDS 495 with him at all costs. He's the worst professor that I ever had at UIC. There wasn't a single grade that he put on blackboard throughout the semester so I didn't what I was getting in the course until the end of the semester. I would strongly recommend taking Management 495. Potter doesn't care about his students!!

Mr. Potter was a delight to have as a professor. Show up to class, you don't even know really need the book and you'll be good for quizzes. His work is light and it makes college fun. Every class seems like busy work, and Mr. Potter's definitely does not. Its a refreshing change. Hes an intelligent guy, who sometimes rants but he is awesome!

Very well spoken Prof with a relaxed class environment. Course is very straight forward. There are "Pop Quizes" up to 10 m/c questions, but if you stay til the end of class or sometimes via email, he will say when the next quiz is. Exams are quiz questions. 3 mini group assignments (finish them early).

Professor Potter talks about a lot of real world corporate experience and makes the class enjoyable. The bulk of the class consisted of quizzes out of the book so it's important you attend every class because they are unannounced most of the time. Do not be late because you may have points deducted. Overall great professor and helpful class

Interesting class and professor teaches well and is interesting. But he replies to emails in 4 days and doesnt answer questions directly.Quizzes are most important so do well on those and memorize the answers because they show up on the midterm and final, which consist of 20 questions each. Read the book and pay attention-questions may be tricky.

Richard is hilarious and has a lot of varied experience in academia and working with businesses on research. Honestly the best lecturer I've ever had. He talks about theory but often includes real world examples of how projects typically fail. He doesn't take himself seriously, which is refreshing from a prof.

If you want to blow off a class, don't take one with Potter! He has real world experience and a lot to give to his students. These reviews are based on people who chose to be slackers. Any time I needed help or clarification his office was open. If you want to truly learn about business take his class to get lessons about the real world.

I think many people tend to treat this course as a 'blow off' class, hence the poor grades and bad reviews. I enjoyed the lectures and the readings and found Dr. Potter to be a great lecturer. Varied experience, happy to answer questions. Don't treat these reviews as comprehensive, because they are quite far from the truth.

I agree with what everyone said here. He's kind of funny(sometimes), but very boring class and no use at all. I don't know what he's doing, but def not teaching! Bring your camera to take pictures of the exam. Two lab tests and writing assignments. Not recommended at all, but anyway, he's not teaching IDS 200 anymore~

Lectures are not mandatory to attend, just make sure you get any notes on any videos that are shown during class. Attended every class, but they are not very interesting. You must attend lab once a week. I wish that he would count lab attendance towards the final grades. Grades consist of 3 exams (non-cumulative), 2 lab tests, 2 writing assignments

Just come to the class before exam and bring your camera. He puts actual exam questions on the overhead. Questions on exam are even in the same order. Just memorize the answers and enjoy your A. If you will come to lecture bring a large coffee because they are so boring.

The man is so interesting its unbelievable... Unfortunately anything he says in class is useless and irrelevant to stuff like the miderms and the final. Lectures are not worth going to. Just memorize the book.

The worst teacher so far while attending UIC. All he does is talk about him self. He is unprepared for class. Also, doesn't seem to know what he is talking about and just reads from the slides that the book company provides. Anyone could do the job he is doing. Useless class as well.

I kinda got stuck with this teacher since he was the only one that was teaching IDS 200. He was a little weird but tried to use as many real-life examples to relate to the boring material. Bases about 90% of exams on vocab from the reading and the rest from discussion and lecture sessions. READ!!!!!

Hes an okay guy, I sat up front and he screwed around with me a lot, it was pretty funny. Any one who defines his tests as 'crazy' either didn't do the reading or is really slow, these are some of the easiest tests I've ever taken so long as you suffer through the reading. I'm really not sure what everyones problem is with this guy hes okay.

I took this guy last semester, imagine Michael Scott of the Office as a Professor and you Potter. Don't talk or he'll yell at you in front of class, and don't miss class because he plays videos that are on tests. He acts like a fool during lecture. Tests are hard because they are based on that evil book with 50 pages a chapter and like 60 terms.
