Comment:

He mainly gives lab time for class instead of getting up there and lecturing, but is more than willing to explain and help and work with you if you have trouble. I don't see him being snobby or standoffish like people say, maybe just she because he doesn't like to talk a lot. Also, he is so sexy in that "shy country boy" sort of way.

I've read a lot of comments here and many of them do not describe the instructor that I know. But, of course, a disgruntled student takes advantage of the opportunity to post negative comments. Barnes has always helped me with my questions. He's not as tough as people make him out to be. Really, I've found him to be quite laid back.

May be the most misunderstood instructor at CVCC. Was somewhat hard to get know. Once I got to know him I really started enjoying his classes. I have had him for most evryhing I took at CVCC. He wants a student to succeed. I disagree with most of these reviews. Maybe most of them, had the personality defect.850

Very arrogant and thinks he and he alone is right. You can't tell him he's wrong about something because his ego is so incredibly large. I urge everyone NOT to take his classes. Find another teacher to take!!! A lazy and very unapproachable teacher to try talking to!!

I have had him for two classes now and I can say he is one of the biggest ****s you'll ever have the misfortune of taking classes from. He doesn't take the time to see things from the students point of view and the only answer he feels is right is his and his alone. By far one of the worst and most arrogant ****s I've met to date.

Comment:

To begin with, Barnes may see a little less than what you were expecting, but once you get to know him and the material, he turns out to be a great professor. Not only does he teach, but he learns with you as technology and techniques progress. He definitely knows his stuff, and if you're in the ITN area, you'll be seeing alot of him and Nate Ullger, so learn to love them really quick!

I was left with the impression that he is very disconnected from his students, doesn’t enjoy the role of teacher, and would rather be left to the ITC tech part of the job. Granted this was the lab portion of cis 110. Listening to others in class, he seems unconcerned about adult students with family obligations trying to get a better education.
