Carey was a great professor. He really understands the texts and makes them relative to our lives. His class is not easy and requires a lot of mental effort. However it is totally worth it and it's own reward. He cool and laid back, only holds class discussions and doesn't give exams. If you take the class seriously, you can pull off a B easily.

This is a very hard class, so make sure you believe you have what it takes intellectually to take this course. As far as Dr. Carey goes, he is most certainly not attractive and while he is very intelligent he is not very clear and makes this class very boring. Not my favorite.

Best class I've ever had in all my life! Dr. Carey is one of the smartest professors on campus, and one of the smartest people I know. He makes the difficult reading understandable and relates it to the present world and to your own life. He's the reason why I picked Philosophy as a second major. Brilliant teacher and excellent class. Take it!

One of the smartest and down to earth teachers on campus. I took the class over winter break so it was a condensed version of the normal course and was a bit easier. I expect that his normal classes are more dense and challenging, but still as rewarding. I learned a lot in a subject I used to not enjoy or understand which is rare

By far the best educator I've ever had. His lectures are interesting, insightful, and engaging. His classes have changed the way I look at school and life in general. Those that don't appreciate him just don't have the mental capacity for the diffiult material he teaches. Truly an inspirational teacher.

As a freshmen walking into Professor Carey's class I had no idea what I was in for. This man is truly inspirational. He is a man that teaches not for the paycheck or just as a second job while really focusing on writing a book. No his avid interest in the livelihood of his students and his clear belief that we can change the world is inspiring!

Dr. Carey is one of the most passionate teachers at this institution. His intuition for philosophy translates into dynamic class sessions that leave the student thinking long after class has ended. He is truly concerned with providing a quality education to his students, and a student cannot help but learn much from his classes.

His tests are all take home, the kids make the questions and he picks which ones are good to use. He gets into rants about life but is still interesting. Solid teacher, hard to do bad in his class.
