He's definitely funny and smart, that's apparent. But he always went so fast and it seemed like he didn't really care about us learning. The projects were hard because they were in Lisp, but just take a deep breath, there's usually a curve! I wouldn't recommend him though, kind of made me lose interest in AI.

Dr. Luke is hard. Make no mistake. But that was expected inCS580. If you study it shouldn't be a problem. All the homework is in LISP so get ready to learn a new programming language if you don't already. Extra credit was given in the semester. Also, DO NOT CHEAT. YOU WILL GET CAUGHT

Prof Luke teaches 580 in Lisp which other professors don't do. His class is harder but you will definitely learn more. Not an Easy A professor but if you want to go into AI, TAKE HIM. He is super enthusiastic about the material and his lectures are fantastic. His assignments can be a little confusing on the directions sometimes so be careful.

He's clearly intelligent about what he teaches, but he makes this class way harder than it has to be. He pretty much does whatever he wants, and that includes Common lisp. The test had questions on it.. like wtf. This is a 100 level class. Not to mention that he isn't respectful to you while testing. He keeps making snide remarks.

He'll intimidate you at first, but he'll curve your grades at the end. He gets off topic way too easily, but he's really funny. The exams were do-able because he gives practice problems and answers. He made AI fun and is opened to hearing from his students on how he can improve. The projects were interesting, but you'll have to code in lisp.

Although I was initially under the impression that Dr. Luke was a sentient AI, the thought was quickly dismissed as the course went on due to his great humor. There were 4 projects and 2 exams that determine your grade. The class was run fairly democratically; he'll poll the class whether or not to learn specific things, etc. Great professor!

Knowledgeable but focused more on learning LISP rather than AI concepts. Expectation is high, the exams are not in line with teaching and requires a lot of self learning. Blames other GMU profs for not teaching LISP. Offers research project to work on (better hop in for a better grade). I would rather spend my time on Courses by AndrewNg.

Sean Luke is very enthusiastic about AI. He expects a lot from his students. All of his assignments required us to use lisp(which is not easy). He is a fair grader. This was the only class as of now at GMU where I felt I learnt something good and valuable.

definitely the hardest course Ive ever taken and taking it with this guy is a whole new level. prof is great in teaching youre not gonna get bored. projects are easy algorithm mostly given on his notes its just rewriting it in lisp code. exams are the toughest. failed the MT but studied for whole 2wks for final. you dont know whr u stand in class

Took this class years way back. Prof Luke is the worst prof in the CS department. the subject was only hard because he was not really helpful at all. gives out projects that requires concepts that weren't even discussed! Don't take AI at all if he's the only one teaching.

This class introduces a wide-ranging topics of CS fields. Pay attention to the talk of the guest speakers, you might find an opportunity to get involve in research project or internship, or find a turning point for your CS major. Importantly, to get the most out of the class, be active to find a good team for the class project!!

He made class fun. He LOVES to talk, but that's great, because his lectures and stories are always interesting, engaging, and funny. He's also nice, and genuinely interested in his students. If you put yourself out there, he'll help you; the only problem is that he's SO busy it can be difficult to get time with him. Do the work, and you'll pass.

Great professor! Can be really funny, really awesome at times. Help is always available, but difficult to acquire for the fact that there are always at least 10 other people vying for his attention(not always for help).

Dr. Luke is a good professor. Class is fairly easy, just show up, do some activities out of class, which are very easy to get done, and you pass.

Dr. Luke is great. His robotics class is cerebral. Tests are hard but he curves and he's a fair grader. Go to class, try, and go to the lab and you'll do fine in this class.

Prof can be a dictator and is pretty arrogant, but otherwise lectures very well and can be nicehelpful. Requires you to install and use basic unix and emacs on your own pc. Class also requires attending 6 "activities". Lectures were very interesting, but a bit advanced. Very good insight into the field. Must program a robotarduino for project.

Comment:
This class is useless. There are no grades. To pass you must do 2 simple assignments, attend some out of class activities, and program a robot with a group. The lectures are pointless and way too advanced for an intro course. Attendance is required so either go to class or risk not passing. The teacher is smart but lacks respect for his students.

Good professor. My only real complaint is that so much material was shoved into one semester. The information in a single lecture would have taken at least a week to cover properly but he posts pretty good lecture notes for you to refer to. Be prepared to live in the lab working on projects. Curves exams pretty generously.

Definitely the most fun class I've had for awhile. being a junior it was a little below my level as it was geared towards freshmen but still a fun class. there are mandatory lectures and 1 project using arduinos or rubas. it is a fun class and does not require much effort. basically just alot of sitting through lectures. He is very inspirational.
