Def one of the most understanding professors who deeply cares about students. She was a bit of a tough grader and during quarantine, it was hard to get a response but she was so understanding and allowed makeups. honestly not many essays only journal and group projects. Take the class you'll get an easy B or A and make sure to show up bc mandatory

This teacher is just alright. You dont really learn anything new. For the journals that are due every class day, she asks for you to analyze, but doesnt even tell you what she expects & just asks for you to develop your response, but literally does not tell you what she wants. I honestly wouldnt take her again I havent learned anything at all

Professor Banerjee is amazing! She is super nice, easy to talk to and you can tell she really loves the subject. She assigns wonderful literature, and has a lot that will really make you think. Just be ready to write a lot! (Its english though, what did you expect!)

Great teacher! Always gives good feedback and clearly states what her expectations are. Keep up on the reading and responses because those can make or break your grade! Put effort into the projects because those are a good chunk of your grade as well.

Super easy class. I took her 2 semesters and both times got an A without even trying. There is homework every day but it's super easy, just one-page reflection on a reading. 4 or 5 in-class essays, easy to get a good grade since shes a super easy grader. The final is just another in-class essay but graded as a final. She also wants you to improve!

She's a decent teacher and is passionate about her subject. Classes are fine, but her grading is extremely difficult. I got an A in English 1A and 1C easily, but this class made me work for it. You will have to write every assignment perfectly (do every homework with tons of effort b/c she will grade it harshly).

Professor Banerjee is such a sweet lady! For hw, you do these personal response journals to the short readings in the "textbook" (advice: you should do them ahead of time like I do ;) ) There are 5 in-class essays, and the topics are relatively understandable. There are 2 presentations (news update + culture). There's 1 final research paper.

You have to work for your grade. Shes a tough grader, but she doesnt really help you improve; you have to figure out how to by yourself. Prepare to write a lot when you take her. But her due date is reasonable. Otherwise, shes friendly

If you love reading and writing and you're willing to write almost 30 journals (journalsummary+opinion), 4 in class essays and 1 more for the final which is 5 total, 2 research papers and 3 oral presentation, then this prof will be a solid choice for you. Not me though. However, she accepts late works at least :) She's nice too.

Makes you do three oral presentations, and makes you write a 7-10 page research paper that is 10% of your grade. Really tough grader on essays and journals, I feel like she plays by favorite but who knows. Attendance is mandatory and makes you turn in a journal daily.

So many journals, I got an A on the oral presentation AND final but missed 5 or 6 journals out of about 30, and I got a B (88%)... I wouldn't recommended her, honestly she doesn't seem to love teaching and spends class making the students do all the speaking. +there's an oral presentation each student has to do, 5-10 minutes worth 10% of your grade

Great teacher! She really cares about her students. Gives a lot of opportunities to make up work on assignments you didn't do well in. Lots of in class essays, two short presentations, one 8-10 page research paper on a topic of your choice. Keep up with all your assignments, go to class, and you'll pass.

One of the best English teachers I've ever had! I love how articulate she is, and she truly wants every one of her students to succeed. Course load isn't too bad in my opinion - couple of in class essays, one big research paper, one oral presentation, and biweekly journals, plus the standardized final. Very fair grader. Take her if you can!

Great teacher! She gives solid feedback on your papers. You will need to buy a book to do the assigned reading and write in your journals. You will write practice final essays that'll get you ready for the final. 1 project, Diversity project, write a paper and do a presentation. Easy.

She is a very funny and understanding teacher. She gives students reading assigments every single night and requires a 1 page journal for each reading. To add to that, she is an incredibly hard grader. For all of my journals, I only get 2 As, and all Bs and Cs for my tests despite all of the effort. And to be real, I'm not that bad at writing.

She assigns the reading pages and gives you a handout including the due date ahead of time. You will need to write a 1 page response to reading (double spaced). Class is pretty boring but easy. She just goes over grammar. But overall, she's super nice and helpful. 2 books- 1 reading (library)(NEED), 1 Paragraph and essay booklet (NO NEED)
