Wonderful teacher, I love her lectures. Tests are hard but she tells you everything on the exams. I love her and would take her classes for life; though she is very honest so I am afraid to ask her for help sometimes. Pay attention to her lectures and SPEAK!

Comment:

If you want to become a University History professor, take her class instead of Mulligan's. She's hard but helpful when it comes to research and while she does talk about her personal life a lot, she can be a sweet lady. You will walk out of the class knowing how to do research -- an extremely useful thing to know if you aim to be a historian.

She talks a lot about herself. She can be nice but she's very judgmental. Dropped the class because I couldn't understand her and was doing terrible in the class. Her lectures are extremely boring and she doesn't go in order with what is in the text book.

Her tests are easy, she tells you exactly what is on them. But she expects you to know absolutely everything. She talks about her personal life a lot. She doesnt seem to care about her students. Papers are extremely hard. She can be really rude. Just depends on how much you want to put into the class.

Absolutely loved taking Dr. Carpenter for this class. Probably the best history class I've taken at Murray. Tests are easy because she tells you exactly what is expected. Go to class and pay attention and you'll get a good grade

This professor was absolutely horrible, by far the worst I have had my 4 semesters at MSU. Expectations unclear, says one thing, does the other. Spends most the time talking about her political views (trashes the other side)and about drinking and partying. Tends to put down students. Consider yourself warned about her.

Prof. Carpenter seems like as a whole, she is a nice person. But, she has a really bad habit of coming off rude. Yes, she doesn't take BS and she is outspoken. But when it comes to students, she is not afraid to make someone look like a complete jackass. She DOES know what she is talking about as far as history. I'll give her that.

Love this teacher! She knows her stuff very well. She is very helpful with finding sources for the paper you have to write. Her test are not difficut at all because she tells you exactly what is on them. She is very funny and keeps class interesting. Make sure you come to class and DONT use your cell phone!

LOVE HER!!!!!! She makes the class fun, and she truly loves what she teaches. Show up to class and stay involved! Study hard for tests, worth taking!

She is tough, but fair. Do your work, attend class, and have fun with her. She is a straight shooter who doesn't take any BS. She knows what she's talking about. Take notes, read over the chapters, and you will be ok.

DO NOT TAKE HER! Don't say you were not warned. She is mean spirited and the antithesis of what one expects in a college professor. She berates students, and comes unprepared for lectures. MSU is a fabulous institution and this professor is an embarrassment to the entire History Department. Please take my warning & tell your friends. AVOID HER!

Great class if you'd like to work your tail off without really knowing exactly what she expects. Spent 25 hours writing a paper, recieved a C. Exams: unbelievably hard. Not a bad person, but a incompetent professor. I thought college professors were supposed to help prepare you for the real world, not condemn you regardless of how hard you try.

Great teacher and a wonderful person!Her classes are never boring and i learned a lot about CIV and more.She is not afraid to speak her mind and will help you a lot,but like any real class you can expect to sit around and do nothing yet still pass.the teacher is a guide and not there to push you on through. your laziness is your own problem!!!

I enjoyed this class for the most part. Attendance is mandatory. I would like to take the second half of this class with her because I feel that is where her specialty lies. She likes to talk so take her on a Tues/Thurs so has plenty of time to talk, then get her whole lecture.

In this class you have to try extremely hard just to be an average student. I feel as though sometimes my tuition money is going to just listening to her bash other students. I wish that she would stop putting down other students and start teaching us. This is a good class if you want to work hard and read a lot.

You could boil everything she says in one class session down to about 5 sentences. But she will ALWAYS keep you the entire time with her babbling. She doesn't fit in with our other high caliber history professors.
