I took the class an elective, like most people at BU. I was told this class was interesting and not too difficult. Professor Prothero was a really great professor and made the lectures interesting. However, my TF Kira, was very condescending and graded very harshly. She gave me a C on a paper and Im in COM, clearly I can write for a 100 level.

Well Listen. Professor Prothero was PERFECT!!!!!!! he is really good professor. But, I took the discussion class with Kira, Tf, and she is really tough grader and I do not do not do not know what is her grading criteria. I complained once, and she was too unclear why she took a lot of points. Do not take her class but take Prothero's class.

I took RN121 to fulfill an elective credit and I'm so glad I chose Prothero! His class is very reading + discussion heavy, but he makes everything interesting and worth your time. He really cares about student opinions and makes that a point during discussions and on assignments. Midterm/final is essay-based but he gave us prompts beforehand.

You will get an A, trust me you will. He takes attendance but you don't need to go just get someone to sign you in everyday. I went because I loved the class and lecture was always super interesting. Basically zero work until the end of the semester, even then only one real paper. I got Bs on everything and still got an A, best humanities at BU

Prothero manages to engage with all students even in a 200+ person lecture. He makes religion matter to students. There were far too many assignments (3 papers 2 quizzes and a final, in addition to weekly reading responses). But the class is what you make of it.

Prothero is a very interesting lecturer and somehow manages to keep my attention for the entire hour and twenty minutes of class. He's pretty funny and knows it, so often comes off as conceited. Also it's annoying how he's ALWAYS bragging about living in Cape Cod. The terms quizzes are easy and the paper topics are interesting.

Attendance is required. Participation is rewarded. Lectures are interesting, but it's not necessary to take notes. There are only two ten-term quizzes that are elementary. It's an easy A class as long as you do the work (very little) and show up. Prothero is a-freakin-mazing. I would definitely take another class with him. He is very down to earth

I absolutely loved his class. His humor is as dark as the subject. You take a few tests but if you are actively listening in lecture and taking good notes, you will get no lower than an A.

Interesting class, makes you think a lot and question a lot of things. Prothero has a ton of knowledge and uses humor to teach rather morbid concepts and theories. I highly recommend this class for anyone wanting a humanities class. It is very easy with a small work load. Definitely an easy A

Prothero is a very, very intelligent guy. However, intelligence does not mean he is a good teacher. BU probably kept him for bragging rights as he is a well-known religious scholar, but he just isn't a good professor. Rambles, and the class isn't well-structured. My TA was awesome, though. But Prothero, not so much.

This class is one of the worst classes I ever have taken at BU, and this course does not have a clear guideline of what to teach. The term quizzes - he just threw out the study guide without teaching materials from the quizzes. He even told us to use wikipedia to look up for the terms. The worst class ever.

The first 1/2 of the semester was def more interesting than the 2nd 1/2. There are rumors that the professor is sick so it's very possible (and understandable) that he wasn't able to be as present as he usually is in past years. I had Connor as a TA he was pretty chill and fair. Not a hard class. Probably the best RN class u can take.

Wow, I'm confused. I learned some very interesting stuff in the class, but Prothero was horrible. If you have the same TA's next year as this year, then take the class. If not, run...

This professor is unprofessional and immature. Rn 106 was a horrid class. Stay far away from him, the other reviewers cost me one of my 32 classes as an undergraduate. Don't make that mistake!!

For a class that I signed up for on a whim, RN106 turned out to be fascinating. Prothero's awesome; in class lectures were always lively, thought provoking, and pushed you out of your comfort zone. Overall this was a relatively easy course if you did the readings, but it really makes you think about the impermanence of life. I totally recommend it!
