Comment:
Just like the many other reviews say, Professor Rausch has his thinking set straight in his own mind, if you say or write something that he personally doesn't agree with, he will mark points off what you wrote. He also expects you to know many "well known" catholic people and books by name. He makes you read his own published book and grades hard.

Not easy--but if you want to take a Theology class from an expert who has worked at the Vatican--and has been on Mysteries of the Bible on A & E, you will love him. I got an A in one class and a B in another, but he did me a favor and told me to improve my spelling and go to graduate school. I am going to finish my PhD next year. I am grateful.

Not an easy theology class at all. He is very intimidating; he is a priest too. However he knows a lot about religion which is very interesting.

I took his class on introduction to Catholic traditions and theological studies, however this was NOT an introduction course at all. He assumes you have background knowledge on the subjects he is going over. The tests are unclear and he is a tough grader. Also, be prepared to answer a lot of questions because he calls people out during discussions

I'm sure he is a nice guy but he is a bad teacher and hard grader. Class is lecture designed but he just goes off on tangents and the two quizzes and final cover things he said once the entire semester.

Lectures are on a topic but there are not specific notes to take so studying for tests is impossible. Papers are short but difficult to get an A on. Reading is a must because he will call you out and ask questions about it to make sure you read.

Great but hard class! A class w/ much controversial discussion/debate. He is always energized and in a good mood when he teaches. He is a tough grader, but is willing to improve your grade if you see him about it. He's a really nice guy and wants his students to succeed Take if you aren't afraid of a little hard work, and if you have an open mind.

Very hard class and not one you can BS your way though. He wrote the textbook that he uses, so if you don't agree with what he says, you're wrong. Impossible grader, too. Definitely go to office hours so he feels like you're interested in the class and he will give you a better grade, but don't take him if you expect an easy A.

It's difficult to take notes because his lectures are basically him talking. If you don't read and study from the book, he will be able to tell and give you a low grade based on that. You'd be smart to basically regurgitate everything he says for the weekly essays he assigns and quizzes. Very nice man, though. :)

very confusing teacher.. very one-sided.. his way or the high way.. questions you answer on study guide will hardly be on quizzes.. you have to write in like theological lang to get a good grade on essays and papers... i would not advise taking this class...

Excellent guy! Interesting and he knows what he is talking about. He is not easy by any means but it is well worth the effort because he helps you explore what interests you. He can be a hard grader but often surpises you with better grades than you think. He really appreciates attendance, participation, engaging with the material, etc.

this is definately not a nap-time class. Very intellectual. I never wanted to know that much about the bible, and i still don't. Not very hard if you put the effort out. So uninteresting it's hard to put out that effort. Really cool guy, cool stories, bad subject. Don't expect to **** the tests, because he is the author of the book, literally.

class was kinda hard, if you want an easy theology class don't take this! He picks on his students so you have to pay attention..i counted down the minutes every class period..a couple papers and quizzes (you get study guides but very unclear) i dont think we ever learned half the stuff on the study guides..he went off on tangents and was confusing

If you do not agree with him and you voice your opinion, you will not get a good grade. The harder I tried, the worse my grades got becuase we didnt agree. Appears open minded, but he isnt! Lots and lots of reading (from his own book)and papers. Also, holds students up to different standards, once he found out my highschool, I had to be just so.

I took this class several years ago and I remember him to be a hard grader. He likes to emphasize on the learning experience rather than the grade you receive. He randomly picks on students during lecture, so make sure that you are paying attention. I had an okay experience in that class but would have preferred another professor.

very highly recommended, esp if you're catholic. hard class (he hates giving A's)but you learn soooo much and it's totally worth it. very liberal catholic. don't expect an A on the first paper or in the class. take notes on the reading and the lecture.
