Hes a nice professor but the way he structures his class is terrible! He gave lectures everyday and didnt give us any other grades but the 3 tests we took and the final! So if you fail the tests you fail the class! No study guide or extra assistance. You take notes everyday and just hope you pass the upcoming test.

Comment:
Dr. Baird is extremely intelligent, but he is the toughest professor in the biology department. He does not post his slides online, he speaks fast, and if you ask a question- he WILL make you feel stupid for it. This class is passable, if you are willing to devote all of your free time to it. Do not bother going to his office, he won't help you.

This professor is a very over the top. Not only is he rude but he grades incredibly difficulty and does not properly prepare you for the material. He simply assigns too much work for the allotted time and provides no one with anything higher than a B-. Dropped the class and would recommend he be counseled on more efficient teaching methods.

Very intelligent and qualified professor. Can be intimidating at first but he gives it to you straight. All test questions are derived from notes, he gives you all the information to pass the class but YOU MUST MEMORIZE your notes and there is ton of material to know. Not for the lazy or the procrastinators. Start studying Day 1 and you'll be fine.

Comment:
Dr. Baird is probably one of the best professors I have had at UCO. However his class is BEYOND tough. His power points are everything you would need for the tests (but like I said material is tough). He truly cares about the quality of your education, not if you like him or not. If you dont want to put full effort in the material, DO NOT take him.

Brilliant, yes! A professional and a good teacher, not so much!! I wish I had seen this rating BEFORE taking the course! Makes you feel subpar for asking questions. For sure! They dont even have to be "dumb" questions. Seems like a very bitter man who gives no respect! CAREFUL in this Prof. (he does play favorites, if you are one, lucky you!)

I did NOT like this professor. His tests are very tricky and no matter how much I studied, I could not get an A (and no one else could either). He belittles you and is just not very nice. NOT HELPFUL AT ALL. I would take anyone else.

Dr. Baird is a brilliant man, but probably the worst professor I have ever had. His tests are confusing and tricky. He laughs at students when they get answers wrong and tells you from the beginning you're set up to fail. If you want to reach your breaking point, he will get you there.

I learned a lot, his teaching style was perfect for me, he reaches from the info-graphs in the books. He's very clear, be sure to keep up on what he's already taught. Also, use his vocabulary, and word things as he does. It will help you for the tests -- which are very tricky. If you truly grasp the materials and concepts you pass his exams.

Don't get him if you need accommodations. When I gave him my letter from DSS he sat me down in his office and told me how hard it would be for him to fulfill the the accommodations and that I would be better off without them. He doesn't give clear, written instructions for the lab reports, and when I told him that he wouldn't help at all.

Dr. Baird is passionate about science however seemed as if he did not care about how much his students learned who were not science majors. He did not like the book so did not use it very often but his notes were very confusing. It seemed as if he spent more time trying to confuse you on the test than trying to just ask the question.

He seemed like he has been putting up with young people for a LONG time. Very sarcastic, tries to be intimidating. At first class was full, by end of semester, only a handful of students. He needs to work on his communication skills. Had to study my hind parts off for a once a week Lab class for a GenEd course...

He is a brilliant man but his teaching methods are outdated to say the least. He is unapproachable and intimidating, something you will find out by reading his 15 page syllabus. You can ask questions if you are brave, but be prepared for him to make you look foolish, its like a sport to him. Take somebody else for this course.

I LOVE SCIENCE, Have taken a billion courses in various areas. Had him twice both times I felt as if he was zapping the love for the field out of me and many of the students around me they actually dropped!! NOT WHAT TEACHING IS ABOUT.. SHAME ON YOU! Very knowledgeable, intelligent man, (and must show it at all costs) He could be great. but not.

He is pretty straight forward. Make sure you attend classes or you will fail. He is tough on questions at first, later he loves questions. He tends to favor some students if they do well on the first tests. You will learn a ton but, not all of it is gonna be on the test.

Animal Biology is a hard class in general. If it has to be taken, DO NOT take it from Dr.Baird. He is a very good professor, but I did not get a very good return on my tests. I have never done poorly in any science class but this one. Be able to regurgitate your notes EXACTLY.

Animal Behavior is a very interesting class. He is a hard professor, but study your notes throughly and read the text book. He is a nice guy, but he will belittle you if you ask a stupid question. He will claim you should have this knowledge before you entered his class. Sometimes Nice though. Good Luck

Dr. Baird takes his class very seriously, You must go to every class if you miss get notes from someone, I just payed attention in class and then gave myself 3 days study for exam, I made an 87 in the class. he is a little intimidating and might make you feel stupid if you ask a dumb question, but if your willing to put in the effort he will help.
