I went in thinking "no way she can be as bad as the reviews say, people just don't wanna put in effort" but man I am telling you she is as bad as the reviews say. After the first test you will realize it too. Her questions are unfair and confusing to understand. Half of them were too broad to properly answer, even if you know information. Avoid.

I would give her a 0 if i could. If you have to take it for your major, take another professor. If its just an elective credit, take ANY other class. This professor is not accessible outside of class to help students, brushes you off when you asked to set up office appointments. Her tests are confusing and you get no help. Lectures are min. helpful

Trust me when I tell you this class will drop your GPA. Do not take if possible. The material is on par with ochem or cell bio. However, you cannot muscle through this bad of a teacher. She is hard to get in contact with, tests are poorly written (language barrier), and she puts in MINIMAL effort towards helping students. From Student w/ 3.75 sGPA

I would give anything to have this professor fired. She is not helpful AT ALL with a difficult subject. Tries to trick you on tests purposely then acts like youre stupid for thinking the answer was something else. Confuses you so much more if you ask about something in lecture. Avoid at all costs. Take literally ANY other class thats not with her

She is probably the worst professor at KSU. Her lecture material does not correspond to the book. Huge language barrier on her tests. Huge ego when it comes to teaching and does not want to help students.

Top 3 worst classes Ive ever taken at KSU. 4 tests and a brochure. Tests are very tricky. Shes a very harsh grader. Need more point opportunities (homework, quizzes etc) if the tests are going to be so hard.

Took this because there's no lab and I got an A in genetics. big mistake. Only grades are exams and a brochure. Her exam Qs almost all have options like A&B/all but C. Genetics is already confusing & so are her exam Q answer choices. Although her accent isnt hard to understand, shes quiet, monotone, and confuses you more after asking a question.

I actually enjoyed lectures, thought she taught the difficult subject very well. I found no language barrier when listening to her. However, I believe that there is a barrier when she writes tests. Every question was a trick question. Also, dont ask questions, she either doesnt explain well, repeats herself, or you end up sorry you asked.

Language barrier sometimes creates confusion in questions/answers b/w students and Dr. Hauge, but she is very knowledgeable. Read your book/any papers she posts on D2L and complete the study guides in detail. She is a tough grader, but what can you expect from an upper level course/elective taught by a PhD? Good luck!

Spent the entire lab class lecturing about what we already knew from the lab manual. Unable to answer simple questions. Easily confused and definite language barrier. I had to teach her how to use a piece of equipment. Worst experience of college. Had almost 100 in lecture and would leave her lab confused. Rude and unapproachable. AVOID IF YOU CAN

Worst professor I have EVER had. She is subjective in her grading, clearly shows when she doesn't like you vs when she likes a student. She will tear you down for little things. She complained about having to teach us. If we knew the course material why would we be here? I've seen 4 students actually cry b/c her. DO NOT TAKE XUEYA HAUGE.

Tests did not accurately reflect the course material, and the book used was pretty lackluster. On more than one occasion she harassed and made several students cry/almost cry. Lab was poorly put together and centered on her own research - for which you needed to get your blood drawn. I would never take her again or recommend her to anyone.

Every day in this class was painful. She turned lab into a confusing lecture, often contradicting herself. She assigned only 2 lab reports, and graded too harshly. Additionally the two lab reports seemed to be very ill-conceived it was as if she picked two labs at random to assign without considering whether or not they should be lab reports.

Very interesting subject material. Took her for Molecular Genetics and was not disappointed with the level of knowledge presented. Extremely knowledgeable of higher genetics with years of direct work experience. Be sure to come to class prepared and brushed up on your chromosome biology; READ THE BOOK, it was extremely helpful. Lab was challenging.

I think she is a nice person and really tries to understand your question. Sometimes, she doesn't understand and answers something completely different. You're better off asking a classmate. READ THE BOOK. She is hard, but she teaches mostly 4000 level classes. That is expected. She is nice.

Overall she's a pretty nice lady. Her accent is very heavy and she's difficult to understand. It gets easier as the semester goes on. She seems confused most of the time during lecture and she doesn't always grade tests correctly. Arguments after getting tests back were common. She would frequently have to go back and add points to grades.

Very large language barrier. Doesn't always understand what you are saying when you ask her a question. Still no idea where some of her test questions came from. Office hours are not helpful. I was seeking outside help for the class and still did not do well. Sometimes teaches wrong material. Learned nothing. Wish I would have taken someone else.

Really wants to help you, shes tries, most students hate her, but guess what its a 3000 level bio, so you should be reading and teaching yourself almost at this point. 95% of questions right from the book reading is a must. Not hard questions. A few times she had a wrong answer and would not change it cost me an A on one test. Still made an A.

If you're going to college, and have broken free of the illusion that most of the below raters suffer as they rant about how they need to do actual work to pass the class, then I encourage you to take Dr. Hauge's courses. They can be challenging and intensive, but you will learn more of the subject matter than you would in most other classes.
