This professor teaches as if youve already took multiple classes in this subject. She will not prepare you properly for her exams and about 60% of what she covers in lecture is not on exams. Would avoid taking her class

Comment:

Dr. Orr is overall a good professor, but you need to be on top of your game to get a good grade. The reading quizzes are easy (as long as you did the reading) but the exams are tougher than they seem. There is a big project due at the end that involves a 10-12 page paper and 12 minute presentation. Take it if you're interested in the subject.

Professor Orr knows her stuff and is organized and on top of it. Her classes tend to be very difficult, and she can be a bit strict. However, she's really really helpful. A wonderful professor overall.

Professor Orr is extremely passionate about her work. She is very helpful, but you better be prepared to work hard if you want a good grade. She expects you to know the information and master her class in order to get an A. Definitely a friendly person and easy to get along with. Do not take if you are looking for an easy A

Signed thinking I was going to be taking a 101 entry level class. Amy is very passionate about what she is teaching but expects you to master her class in order to pass. Her readings are not easy and her test are very difficult. I would not recommend taking this class if you are looking for a basic sociology class.

Comment:

Orr is an incredibly passionate professor and dedicated to teaching her students. However, students have to work hard to earn an A since Orr has high expectations. Despite the class difficulty, Professor Orr is an extremely understanding professor and she is one of my favorite professors at Linfield.

She is such a wonderful professor, but be warned that you won't get an easy grade, you need to work for it. She challenges you, but it really pays off! Very helpful outside of class and always looking to help. Highly recommended.

Great professor and very intelligent. She definitely has high expectations, but the class was not at all impossible. Her class was one of my favorites at Linfield so far. She clearly wants everyone to succeed. Tells a lot of personal anecdotes, also, which I liked.

If you come to Linfield, take a class with Amy. Not only will you become more knowledgeable about whatever topic the class covers, you will become a much greater student overall! Amy is one of the best professors here.

GREAT professor. Taking another class with her this semester, and impressed once again. Very challenging and has high expectations, but EXTREMELY helpful and always available for questions. Great teaching methods; class is always interesting. One of the best!
