I found her to be very biased in her political views and intolerant of political students whose views she knew were different from her own. She knew I was a Republican student leader and was impatient with my questions, as if simply asking a question was the same thing as challenging her view. This was in the 1980's, so I admit she may have grown

Dr. Bonnicksen is not the most enthusiastic person, but she is fair and helpful. And while this class is not a blow-off, if you read the cases, you'll do fine. Plus, she puts all her slides on blackboard. Recommended

Comment:

She's a very nice teacher but sometimes she loses the interest and attention of the class. Class is all discussion with bi-weekly 2 page journals. You just have to do the assigned reading every week or so to understand the positions of both sides. A is easily attainable since midterm and final are take home paper essays.

She's very passionate about the topics she teaches and brings out a lot of knowledge in her lectures. Unfortunately she doesn't notice when the class loses interest and may be going slightly deaf because she never noticed people side conversations and rude remarks. I loved the class, but couldn't stand the class environment.

hands down the most boring teacher ever. If you make a statement in class she will make you repeat it twice and still fail to grasp what you are saying.goes off topic for a good 20 minutes every lecture.lectures are exactly the same as the readings and extremely boring. she accuses students of knowing too much legal language and docks points for it

Dr. Bonnicksen is a fine woman with a comprehensive knowledge of her field. She's passionate about and interested in her work, and tries to instill that in the course curriculum. That said, if you are not genuinely interested in the subject matter (life sciences, medical ethics, POLS), you would do better to take another course.

passionate but boring. I feel as if she didn't understand a damn thing I said, but whatever, her exams are fine and she understood me there. Her mannerisms are classic though because she babbles and giggles.

I took both of her classes. She is a difficult grader and at times unclear what will be on the test. Make sure you talk to her, I went from a 60% average to getting an A because of it.

Dr. Bonnicksen is the most intelligent and passionate professor that I've ever had as an undergraduate. She was always willing to meet with students, and she really knows her stuff. The readings are demanding, but are very controversial and interesting. Anyone complaining about Bonnicksen is obviously a lazy moron and is not college material!

This teacher is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She completely bored me to death and was totally uncooperative with me as a student. My girlfriend was going into labor and this teacher would not even consider rescheduling my test. Although this was the first Pols class I took (elective) , because of this teacher it was also my last.

She is a very helpful and understandable professor. I have loved the two classes I took with her. My advice to other students is to come to class every time and participate when you can. The tests will be easier if you study the material. If you are having trouble, go to her office. She is awesome.

Comment:

Clear professor that gives expectations and then makes it somewhat easy to meet them. Incredibly intelligent woman who has done amazing work. One of the best professors to take for those actually looking to learn something besides how much booze they can hold. Take her classes if possible.

Really interesting material and Prof. Bonnickson knows a lot about it, but it is really boring unless you get some class particpation. Say something controversial and the hour goes by quick. Otherwise it's really long.
