Professor Kirk is great. He is fair grader and he is understanding. His overall scoring/points for tests, discussions, papers/assignments are weighted evenly. You don't have to be worried about something making or breaking your grade. He gives comments on everything and he's cool to interact with. He's a true historian, inspirational and caring.

Was very disappointed in this class. It was an overkill with how much reading and papers he made you do for a history class.

Dr. Kirk is a really nice person. He's cool & really enthusiastic about history, which makes him a great professor. He always comes to class with a positive & cheery attitude. In the beginning, there were lots of assignments, but as long as you do 'em, you'll get the A. Also, there's LOTS of reading, but it's simple (sorta). He's a fair grader too!

He's a really good teacher. There is a lot of work at first but it's super easy. There's two writing assignments, midterm, and final. All easy. He does give extra credit but its only worth 5 pts. Over all good professor. You should pass with a B or an A.

At the beginning of the semester we had so much homework, but after midterms everything slowed down. We haven't taken a test other than the final, but there were a lot of projects and primary source homework. Andrew is a very nice person with so much knowledge of the subject he teaches. I enjoyed the class.

Dr. Kirk is definitely passionate about history, politics, and education. He lectures most of the time but they are very interesting. He is really kind and helpful towards his students. There was a bit of reading/online assignments in the beginning of the semester but they weren't hard at all. I would recommend Kirk to anybody who loves history.

I enjoyed this professor. I had him for two online courses and received an A for both classes. Mostly weekly discussion boards and a hefty amount of reading, so make sure you read the books and cite everything! He gives excellent feedback and responds to emails quickly. His instructions are pretty straight forward and a fair grader.

Dr. Kirk is a fantastic professor. Absolutely one of my favorite classes at UNLV. His passion for the subject translates in his lectures and the topic is just so darn interesting. I learned a lot and got an A on all 3 exams by showing up, paying attention and pretty much only doing reading for what I didn't understand during the lecture.

Professor Kirk is truly passionate about what he teaches, Kirk is very knowledgeable and teachers history in an interesting way. He does this by bringing the main aspects of events and make it more enjoyable and easy to digest the information. If you have a good background on U.S. history, you should not have much problem getting an A.

Environmental History is so much fun! I had no experience with the subject, but gained so much knowledge of the environment and its history. All History majors should take this! High textbook use, make sure to read them.

Prof Kirk is a nice guy, but if you don't have 3+ hours a day to read and do assignments, don't take his online summer 441 class. Requires you to read 4 books, write 2 papers (one is in lieu of final exam), midterm is essay format, and post daily (graded) discussion questions, as well as participate in discussions and view lectures. Beware.

Professor Kirk is a wonderful professor. He is very knowledgable about what he is talking about which makes it very interesting. There are 3 tests, make sure to read the text book and you will do fine. He puts up the power points online before test also, which is very helpful.

Good lecturer & never boring. My complaints: we only got as far as Reagan (1970s) & his conclusion focused on environmentalism (different class). 3 Exams (moderately hard): multiple choice with 3 triads & essay. Gives a list of terms for all exams. Read the textbook for exams. Posts PowerPoint on WebCampus. Recommend & Offers some Extra Credit.

I've taken several classes with Dr. Kirk from History 102 to 400 level classes and he is simply the best American History professor at UNLV. Dr. Kirk truly has a passion for the field and is extremely willing and able to provide help, guidance or just further information on any of the subjects he teaches.
