I took this course online at SFU, it was great and I read the textbook and did well (A). Good course breakdown [midterm, final, paper]; he has a strong interest in the course

Although e-live sessions aren't mandatory, they're great to go to because he highlights what he wants in the class. With that in mind, he kept true to what he asked for and the exams were fair to almost easy.

Useless professor. Totally unfair examiner. I don't know what that person down there is thinking. He will avoid answering questions with all the might left in him. U can tell he is a busy researcher who is already enjoying success as the gero chair. There is no need for him to care about students unless there is direct personal gain for him.

Comment:
this online course was taught poorly. distribution of grades were unfair. the final exam was worth 45% and he doesn't tell you what to focus on. expects everyone to remember details from 50+ articles from the semester. and he never responds to students email. an unfair and unhelpful teacher.

This guy is such an unfair and unreasonable marker and never helps anyone. I cannot understand why he is the chair of the department, this guy is a total flake.

This is the first time this course was taught online and I have to say Dr. Wister is very slow at replying back to people. I agree with the bottom comments, this prof has vague instructions and is a very hard and somewhat unfair marker. Worst class experiences ever. I do not recommend this prof.

He is one of the worst profs I've ever had. He rarely or never replies back to students when they need help and his assignment instructions are vague and unclear. I don't think this prof cares about his students, he cares more about the way he dresses. Prof needs to retire consider a career and modeling since thats all he cares about.

good distance course in that he basically summarizes the text for you in his study guide. shows that he actually put effort into designing the course. contrary to other reviews, i found him to be quite helpful, but i guess we all have our good days and bad

No help whatsoever when outline proposal for the liberature review was submitted, and asked for suggestions: Refer to the Study Guide guidelines, and 'good luck,' was the response via (prompt) e-mail; LitRevs usually expected from grad students not undergrads; Dr. W.'s own paper unavailable in SFU & all other Western Canadian university libraries.
