Had him for Dino Bio. Long's alright. Though most of the questions on the quizzes are reasonable, some of them are unreasonable, and require an inordinate memory to get them right. His personal stories are interesting, but his creationism-bashing is gratuitous.

His stories are awesome cuz they waste class time and I always thought they were cute anyways. Quizzes are really hard, but u won't ever have to worry about projects or papers in this class.

I loved Dr. Long, he is not that hard. His weekly quizzes are tough but all you really need to do is show up, pay attention and actually study but he drops 2, so you have that opportunity to bring your grade up. Final exam was all of the quizzes accumulated. The lab is easy and straight forward; leaves lab open so can study anytime.

Dr. Long is a terrible teacher. He wastes so much time with useless stories that have nothing to do with the material. He is an arrogant jerk and he thinks he is the coolest person in existence. He does not cover the material that he tests on and taking his class is a complete waste of your time.

quizes are hard and its ur whole grade in the class. they are never the main points of the text but rather dumb fact picked from a line in the book. he takes off for spelling which is crazy!

overall he is a nice guy. The way he teaches anatomy is hard. He takes off for misspelling words, his quizes are not easy at all. The lab section is easy if you study the material. If you get a B out of the class, be happy. HE doesnt "grade students on personality" and with him there is no "in between" when he grades you either right or wrong.

Long's weekly quizzes can be quite tedious but as long as you attend class, because he puts information that he talked about in class, and read the assigned chapter then you are looking at an A. There is no projects or exams, just specific questions about the subject at hand. If you dont understand he is always willing to meet and help out.

Dr. Long is AWESOME!! It's true - his quizzes are very hard and the questions are very particular on answers. He does NOT, however, ask you irrelevent questions or specifically try to confuse you. If you study and truly understand the concepts you will do well, and he is always willing to talk to you after class if you have questions.

I've heard good things about Long in advanced classes but his intro to bio is very frustrating. I feel like his quizzes try especially hard to trick you instead of testing your knowledge. His lectures move really slowly and I can't imagine taking this class in the morning.

He is very...passionate about his work but become overbearing at times. Lucky that you don't have write papers but only grade is weekly quizzes. If you take him READ! Quizzes VERY particular on answers. Only take if you are REALLY interested in the subject.

Comment:

I enjoyed both evolution and development. The classes were a bit on the easy side, but I learned a lot and Dr. Long clearly loves what he does. My one criticism is that the development course could be updated, making note of molecular advanced in the field and covering more regulatory networks.

Awesome prof! He made it all so simple. Great guy too. He makes a point to see his students outside of class. Take his class! I give my highest recommendation!

Great prof! He makes it the most natural thing in the world to learn in his class. Very helpful in and out of class. He believes that there is more to education than just classroom. I highly recommend him!!
