An overall great prof and respected within the faculty. She does assign lots of readings which all class discussions are based upon and participation does matter. Her marking was fair. She genuinely wants her students to do well but does like to see the effort.

I have had this Professor Lee-loy many times and each time I love her more and more. Yes, there is a lot of reading for her classes but she picks such amazing reads that I don't mind at all! Usually I finish reading all of them really quickly. She really cares about making things very interesting.

This professor is ok, she is nice and intelligent. Be prepared to read though. She expects a novel to be read each week, as well as readings from her post-colonial reader and then she also posts additional readings. When you have four other classes, the readings stack up and become unbearable. Topics are not in depth but feel rushed as a result.

She's a good professor. However, the amount of readings it almost ridiculous. It makes it difficult to really engage with the text if we move through them at lightning speed. With how the class is structured, I feel like we glaze over topics.

One of my favourite professors thus far at Ryerson. She tries to really prepare students for their future work in both academics and the work place. Would definitely take another class with her!

Professor Lee-Loy is a good overall. The course focused a lot of poetry and post-colonialism and got a bit repetitive at times. The lectures were decent. She is a very pleasant and nice person, and marks relatively easy. If you find yourself in her class, yes it may be boring sometimes but I'd still keep it.

Comment:
Where do I start with Lee-Loy? If you are a white male, switch out of this class. Lee-Loy is overly bitter about colonialism. The point of the class is narrative, yet we spent 5 classes discussing colonial issues. In short, this class is nothing more than a platform for Anne's views on the big bad white man. I got a decent mark but hated this class

took nature of narrative with her,the lectures are boring, she doesn't do that well in engaging students. However she is very approachable and nice. The book you read prospero's daughter is really interesting. Her down fall is that she focuses too much on post colonialism, didn't know that would be the focus of the course. Overall she's not that bad

Professor Lee-Loy is an easy marker who is always willing to help out a student, PROVIDED THAT THEY SHOW INITIATIVE. She doesn't give a ton of guidelines, which gives you more academic and personal freedom to write what you want. I thoroughly enjoyed this class, despite that she assigned wayyyy too much reading (she assigned us 7 novels).

This Prof is extremely anal when marking which might be ok if she actually told you what she was looking for on ANYTHING before deducting marks. She'll deduct marks for miniscule matters without stating a preference beforehand. Her class is a waste of time and should be avoided unless you're looking to read a book a week and work like crazy for a C.

She was a ridiculous teacher, I actually couldn't stand to hear her opinions so I stopped attending class. Still did really well (She's a fairly generic thinker so you can basically write down what you expect she wants to hear).

Very understanding teacher. She never judges you if you don't show up for class because you have an important project to do or exam to study for. She will go out of her way to help you with your essay writing. A+++ Teacher!

If you attend the classes, and read the text you'll do just fine, the stories are interesting...The only HORRIBLE part about this course is the fact that 10 percent of the final mark is participation...and she tries to memorize your name in class, it's so creepy..I only did bad because I didn't participate..so make sure you give your input.

The class seemed cool (asian literature!) but ended up more as an immigrant/minority culture class focused on Asia. Hmm. But then, it was great and I learned a lot. She is very interested in her student's ideas but not to the exclusion of teaching them. I really enjoyed her perspective and the class.

I love her. Not really into anthology writing (thought it was a creative writing course) but her teaching style made the class not only barable, but very fun. Good reading choices, and approach to teaching. :P
