I took Dr. Steinbock's Philosophy of Law class in1977.I remember specifics of her lectures, because she identified complicated issues and how to draw your own position from them. I'm an adjunct professor at a small college in Pennsylvani and sometimes advise U.S. congressmen and senators. Couldn't do it without what I learned from Dr. Steinbock

Lets just put it this way: You come to her class, and you learn. She does not take crap from anyone (she kicked 3 kids out of class for talking), and you have to do the readings. The clicker questions can make a difference from receiving a C+ and an B in the class

Despite these critiques I think Bonnie is a delight. Grades on participation so try to keep up with the readings because she likes relevant class discussion and encourages everyone get involved (in a smaller classroom). If you can write a solid philosophy essay then you have nothing to worry about with your grade.

Extremely rude and condescending towards students. Mocks opinions frequently, and pretty much preaches her views the entire lecture, and will tell you you're wrong if you express a view that opposes hers. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

I took Bonnie's class in 09.She WAS rude and demeaning!I have a 3.5GPA,almost 30,an RN, &resented being told daily I wasnt in high school and didnt need to be handed things,I agree& you need to teach it in 100 level courses. + a fellow student overheard her in the hallway belittling students comments in class to her troll assistant. Nasty attitude!

One of the most intelligent professors you are likely to encounter at Albany. If you think she is mean, it is probably because you are stupid. She doesn't hand-hold, and she shouldn't have to. A great professor for serious students.

Very vocal about her views. Class is somewhat interesting some days and incredibly boring the next. Clicker Q's so attendance is mandatory. Tests are somewhat tricky because she words questions weird trying to trick you. Avg difficulty but I wouldn't recommend.

Was not just opinionated but rude and demeaning at times over some peoples views. More than once made comments about how were not in high school. I think we get it, some of us were not freshman.

Bonnie Steinbock is a great professor. She makes sure the class understands the assigned topics thoroughly and is always willing to go over stuff that isn't clear. She makes the class interesting by making sure everyone is included in discussion and allows students to discuss their opinions thoroughly.

Personally I like this professor.Yes she is opinionated but that should be expected in the field of Philosophy. If you are a student who is afraid to defend their opinion then I would not suggest you take her class. I have read some of the other comments and yes she has no problem refuting your opinion, but Hey thats life. One of my best professors

Steinbock's class isn't particularly difficult in terms of material, but it's impossible to sit through. Chances are you'll have no interest in the material and you'll have the pleasure of listening to her Anti-Catholic, liberal views being forced upon the class.

This professor is awful. if you do not have to take this course, don't. she is very well respected in the academic community but she is just a bad teacher. her lectures turn into discussion between 5 kids in the front row within 5 mins. i was minoring in philosophy and dropped that idea after i took her class.

I forget the course number. The class is Philosophy of Law. She is very well versed in the topic. Great class if you are a dedicated student. Furthermore if you show interest, she is more than helpful in providing further explanation. She's tough but this is also tough material.

This woman is an interesting creation of God. She goes over some interesting philosophers, she made us read an article that she wrote and her tests were rather tricky. People say you couldn't write your opinion in your paper but you can because the TA's grade them and as long you support you opinion and give the counter argument you'll do fine

This lady is god awful. She may be smart but she is so stuck up on her opinions. Not to mention her 30 yr old bone head TA is a loser like her. Fairly easy class, lot of reading but not worth it at all. BIG mistake, avoid this teacher

Why all these awful comments are being submitted? Dr. Steinbock is a very articulate professor with a great understanding of the subject. She is a very fair instructor who values the opinions & viewpoints of her students. Her TAs were extremely helpful, and devoted to the class. Dr. Steinbock is a model professor, and a true asset to U Albany

great teacher. I think she was a pretty good teacher and she does not deserve all these nasty comments. people percieved this class to be an easy A and they were in for a rude awakening. I've been to every class and it was on the day of the final that i realized that there are ALOT OF PEOPLE WHO NEVER SHOWED UP. great teacher, Brandon rocks...
