Comment:
Bloemhof's class (Health Econ) is dry, but Bloemhof is really nice and the course expectations were totally reasonable. She knew everyone by name, and she's really nice. People seem not to like her on here, but I would totally recommend a course with her.

Course was disorganized, no clear outline for triple jump evaluation or group work. Very passionate about the course material, but mixes political views into discussions. Lectures go off on tangents. Book + quizzes was like a completely different course. Would have liked to learn more of the actual economic theory. Posts A LOT of supplemental info

Comment:
When I learned that Dr. Bloemhof lectured internationally about pedagogy, student engagement, and promoting critical thinking in the classroom, I was incredibly disappointed. She is hands down the worst communicator, worst lecturer, and overall most confusing professor in UG and Grad School combined.

If she actually taught economics the course would've been decent. BUT She was always off topic, hated answering questions, assumed we knew everything, and was disrespectful of students opinions. She would go off on tangents about politics half the time, her case discussions were poorly facilitated, and assignments unrelated to content. AVOID HER.

The slides are dry. Assignments are mostly unrelated to material on slides, had to google everything. Didn't clarify exam expectations till after the last day of class. Assumes economics background and doesn't teach what is tested. Gives too many extra readings as if there is spare time and the only course you are taking

The Horcrux contains the tears of students, it must be destroyed. It makes her angry when people ask questions. Really didn't know what was happening. Huge gaps in teaching material and expectations. Unrealistic expectations with readings.

Textbook required as will assist with weekly quizzes. Assumed everyone in MBA class had economics knowledge. Very knowledgeable professor. LOVED the concept of 1 hour lecture, 1 hour break for group case study, and last hour for discussing it in class. The Triple Jump was interesting; subjective, but interesting. Thanks Barb!

Person below: you are in a 4th year class. Working on your own and knowing concepts is a given. How else did you make it so far? She's always available and gives you several ways to get in touch with her. There is no excuse for not knowing her expectations. Great prof! Always available. Always helpful. Other profs need to take notice.

She doesnt seem to teach much at all. She expects students to work on their own and know concepts as a pre requisite. Also, classes are more about how to use the library rather than international trade itself
