Comment:
Terrible professor. You're better off not taking the course than taking the course with Professor Loo. I thought I was going to do myself a favor by taking an online course but that was not the case. I don't know what type of professor he imagines he is with his "intimidating" daily emails and little to no study material or teaching done.

Comment:
Professor Loo is not the best teacher I have ever taken. His teaching style is very confusing and the way he wanted us to learn was also very confusing, at least how he put it. Instead of memorizing the information he wanted us to know it, which for Classical Theory that is very difficult. Not very helpful and very condescending. Never again

This class was the hardest class I have ever taken. If you hate reading I do not recommend this class at all. There is no way to approach him without feeling intimidated for dumb. Avoid taking in at any cost. Even though he's an online professor doesn't mean he's easy. This class made me change my major.

This is by far one of the hardest course I have ever taken, especially online wise. It is a heavy-based reading online class. 4 textbooks. 2 midterms and 1 final determines your overall grades. Readings can get confusing, and it can be hard to keep up with the reading assignments. Personally, I don't recommend because it could make or break GPA.

I have taken many online classes and this had to be the worst. Your grade consists of 2 midterms and one final, you have two tries for every test. If you score lower the second try he keeps that grade. I am okay with reading but this was way too much. The exams were based on like ten or more readings. I wouldn't ever take him again.

Dr. Loo is clearly writing for the bourgeoisie! His exams are worded in a way that is purposely meant to keep the proletariat in the low. In all seriousness though, the wording on his exams are super confusing. Avoid.

Professor Loo gives tons of reading that aren't always understandable. He expects you to have his mindset. The reading throughout his syllabus was scattered and confusing. He bases his grades off of 2 midterms and 1 final. He does not give any type of Extra Credit. Do not take his class.

He might know about Sociology but he does not teach anything. Tons of readings from 4 different books so you can learn by yourself. Do not take his class.

The two SOC classes I took from him had nothing to do with my major yet they taught me so much. His lectures were very interesting. So cool to have a professor that was actually interesting and believed in something.

Very involved online class. Lots of reading but your grade only consists of two midterms and a final. His exams are pretty difficult if you don't stay on top of your notes and really understand everything. His lectures can be redundant and confusing.

My Soc instructor at my community college was a student of Dr. Loo, and recommended him. The online class I took with Dr. Loo was, by far, one of my favorite classes. The lectures Dr. Loo provided were very thorough and easy to understand. I learned so much from his lectures and from his readings. Dr. Loo is one incredibly intelligent individual!

DO NOT TAKE ONLINE. RIDICULOUS amounts of reading and not enough time to take it all in to fully understand what it is that he is trying to teach you. he's a great professor but his work load is just too much. do not take this class if you have a busy schedule.

Do not take this guy online! His expectations are ridiculous! He only posts his discussions two days in advance and wants you to respond with three paragraphs. The amount is fine but that is not enough time and is not flexible at all which is the way an online class is meant to be!

Loo is not an easy professor to have. He does assign a lot of reading that you have to take your time reading because if you don't you will have trouble understanding the material. He does care about the students even if it may seem like he doesn't, as long as you do the work and make an effort in studying you will pass his class.
