VERY boring lecturer. Makes no sense and is never available to get help. Not personable, very ride to students. Worst philosophy teacher, I would avoid him!!!! Readings make so sense, yet he expects you to know them very well but doesn't go over them.

He is a very dry lecturer. The topics are not very interesting and his style of teaching does not help the excitement level. He also does not give you many chances to improve your grade so always go to class prepared.

Blanchard can be a very dry lecturer. However, he is very clear and repeats important points often. Easy to follow. Trys his best to incorporate relevant real life examples. Assignments are essays and tests only. Allowed 4 skips Recommend

Blanchard is a fairly dry teacher-most days it was hard to stay awake. Heavy emphasis on participation. Easy grader on papers as long as you properly address the question and quote the books. Interesting ethical discussions.

Blanchard is extremely good at telling you what you need to know to do good in his class. The readings can be confusing but after he goes over them they make sense and are not hard to write about. Class can be boring but if you listen and actually think about the questions they actually are kind of interesting. Only HW 3 essays for the semester.

This class was so boring I would literally count the minutes to prevent myself from falling asleep. However, if you do the reading, take notes, and actually study, you can pass with a fairly decent grade.

Blanchard is a great guy. He tries hard to make the material understandable. The class can be dull sometimes but it's expected. There's a decent amount of reading but if you just pay attention in class you can get by with skimming. Just listen and write down everything he says and you'll be fine.

Quite helpful. The class is pretty straight forward, he tries to make the material as understandable as possible. For a person who does not care for philosophy, I would definitely recommend him.

Good professor. Gives a review sheet for the final example, and all the questions on the review sheet are the questions on the final. Also gives written assignments but, the papers are only have to be 2 pages doubled spaced, easy.

fell asleep many times even when i did pay attention could not grasp what he was trying to convey. its unfortunate bc he obviously is very intelligent, its not his fault he's interested in a boring subject. I suggest you have an open mind when starting the course. mabye it would be more bearable if you actually pay attention. learn from my mistake

Certainly not the most exciting man in the world, but then again, neither is the topic he specializes in. Go in with the right attitude, go to class (or else) and, although it will be painful, pay attention. He's not too tough a grader, but he uses complex phraseology to convey class material that makes it unduly difficult to understand.

I didn't want to take this course, but ended up switching my major to Philosophy after this class. Excellent selection of readings. Brilliant man who gives great explanations of the material. Tough grader but it's fairly easy to get an A. 5 quizzes, three 2 page papers, 2 essay exams. Very helpful and approachable. I still keep in touch with him.

Very hard class. Lots of reading and you must attend class to understand the text. He is good about answering questions and does usually make the text more understandable. Hard grader but tests are pretty straight forward. He is very picky with his answers.

take tons of notes and you won't have to read too much of the text.. also, your interpretation of it is probably wrong, according to him... go to his office hours. he's a lot nicer than you'd think. i got an A, but if i didn't pay attention in class? i'd totally have gotten a C. Keep writing notes so you don't fall asleep ;)

real nice guy ... but i think hes a robot. When you walk into his class he might as well hand out blankets and pillows cause he puts people to sleep. Never strays far from the text and gives plenty of quizzes. tests are all essays and the papers are a pain. bottom line ... be happy with a C+ and a few added hours of sleep to your schedule.
