Very closed minded and disrespectful of students. Does not expect high academic achievement from any. Senile and should be removed from a position of such high regard at this university. Terrible experience and had a hard time learning/focusing due to the high volume of ignorant things he told to his class about the material and minority groups.

Comment:

Bark is worse than his bite. He will say you shouldn't be in college if you're only taking his class for the rumored B that you will get for going to every single class (minus your one skip freebie). Just go to class, act interested and be take the B. Easiest way to get a 300 level Art History credit. Once a few classes go by he will soften up.

He lays it out for you on Day 1. If you show up and if you care, you will get a good grade. He does like to go on though and may hold the class late if he doesn't think he covered enough material. He is true to his word about his paper policy. Taking on extra work and actually trying to learn something is rewarded.

if you have any interest in history of photography or getting an A, don't take this class. he doesn't actually teach you the important photographers nor does he do any sort of AH style analysis of the implications of the pictures. if you want an easy B for sitting through a class, take it. there is NO possibility for an A.

He's nice if you respect him and show up to class. Your work, on the other hand, is a different story. He's very closed minded and doesn't like a lot of contrast... it gets frustrating.

I learned a lot from Bones, not only about making a good photgraph, but about putting together a good project. I learned a lot about writing from him, even though it wasn't something he realized he was teaching.

if you work hard for bones, he will work hard for you. he doesn't put up with students who don't give a sh** but if you really care and make an effort, he will be a great help and mentor.

Had for history of photo. don't know how he is in actual photo classes but for this class all we had to do is go every day and we were guaranteed a B. No tests, homework, or note-taking. can turn mean if you miss more than one class though.
