Bruce is not a good foundation spatial prof, his jokes can be seen as mocking at times, He has very vague assignments, very bad at explaining what he is looking for, picks favs, Students are often confused. In crits, it is nearly impossible to understand what he is trying to propose and point out, He lacks professionalism.

Bruce is wonderful in crits. I'd say he's the most honest, direct, and articulate with his feedback. He's also very available for students-- he's willing to meet and give a lot of energy to your work. One of the best professors I've had.

Bruce Chao is an excellent teacher. As a teacher he is very intellectually rigorous and pushes his students. He is meticulous and articulate and gives deep consideration to student work. He taught many of the current glass professors who, together, form a stellar department.

Bruce Chao is an excellent teacher. His curiosity is apparent in his artwork and as a professor he gives deep consideration to student work. He is very meticulous and articulate. As a teacher he is intellectually rigorous and pushes his students. A great person to have behind you.

Bruce Chao is a really good teacher, he is in a way extremely academic in his approach in teaching a material that has been ghettoized to the craft and design world for so long .His program ,IMO, has spawned many good artists who can claim an innate, intimate , and distilled shall I say visceral understanding of the material glass I could go on ..

Great vocabulary and knowledgeable but lacking what to do with that knowledge. He is the dept. head and the students advisor and your teacher for the last two years. :( Horrible critiques! Not a great teacher and not a great artist in my opinion.
