Comment:

Lectures are terrible, disorganized, and full of mistakes. Doesn't exibit a mastery of the material. Used a terrible online homework system that was problematic at best. Course was missing a ton of content. If you must take precalculus, don't take it here or with her. Go to metro or uno!

-Disconnected from her students- When students struggle, it's their own fault, even if a majority of students are struggling due to bad explanations. -Stickler for lateness, gives zeros for all late assignments, even ones with valid excuses to why they're late. -Parrots off Powerpoints instead of explaining. -HW doesn't correspond to the exams.

Comment:

The whole math department is unorganized in general. Prof Carpenter didn't always write clearly so it was even more difficult to follow her on top of her jumping back and forth to and from unrelated topics. She also didn't always know how to answer basic questions from students and wasn't very much help one-on-one either.

Not sure if she even knows how to do the concepts we were studying. Consistently did example problems wrong and had to be corrected by students and then seemed mad when we did. Wears interesting and funny looking clothes, but the whole math department does for some reason. Really enjoyed seeing what she would wear everyday for a good laugh

This teacher is horrible. As a student coming back to college after 10 years getting someone who is this bad at teaching a simple subject is abysmal. Literally the only bad professor I've had at Creighton, but she is actually awful. Has no idea how to convey the way to solve problems and she teaches straight from powerpoints created by someone else

Awful. Math should be explained thoroughly, and she doesn't explain things at all. Only reads off of Powerpoints and assigns way too much homework that has nothing to do with what she taught in lecture. I got a A in Calculus in high school and had to drop this class because she didn't teach anything.

Run for the hills if you have her as a teacher. Frequently messes up examples, students have to correct her in class. Teaches how to do 1 or 2 types of problems from the section then assigns massive homework with problems did not learn. Homework is 25 percent of the grade and she grades only the hardest problems ( which we didn't learn) AVOID

She reads directly off the power-points which is bad enough, but if you ask her a question all she will do is re-read the unclear portion of the powerpoint because she can't explain it in her own words. The class is easy enough, despite a lot of unnecessary homework, and she is also a nice lady, but she just isn't good at teaching it.

Very tough course. Take other reviews with a grain of salt, as she mostly teaches calculus, which is already a hard topic. But she's not a great professor, you do not get any feedback at all on homework or quizzes. She only grades a few problems per homework assignment but the ones she does grade, she grades very very hard.

i don't know how anyone is going to get above a B in this class. she gives no feedback on what you get wrong and takes very long to get tests/quizzes back to students. the material for this class is not too difficult, but when you have teacher like this it is almost impossible.

A huge thanks to Slader . com for teaching me this semester's homework. I loved trigonometry (and all other math) before this class. In class, we are supposed to go through about 30 slides but usually only get through 18, leaving the rest up to you to figure out. Assignments are 500x longer than they have to be. Very condescending in office hours.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Half of the class dropped it and those of us stupid enough not to drop it are failing it and she doesn't really do anything about it. No extra credit or anything. Gives weekly quizzes but doesn't grade them until after the exam so you have no idea what you are doing. Gives so much homework that is not even helpful. AVOID!

worst teacher i've had at Creighton. poor communication, test average was 64% and she never did anything about that. unclear expectations. lot's of homework that's GRADED. don't take.

Easily the worst math teacher I've ever had. Another review remarked that "it's an embarassment that this woman is a teacher at this school". I think that describes it perfectly. HUGE homework assignments that are GRADED but also count for like 10% of your grade. Take Mallenby or Carlson if you have any choice. Anything is better than her.

this is hands down the worst math class I have ever taken in my life. Expect at least 2 hours a day for homework and she doesn't actually teach you anything so everyone fails. Her class is awful and avoid it as much as possible.

Avoid this class at all cost. Carol has extremely boring lectures and she gives many hours of homework every week. The problems on the tests and quizzes are far harder than you will find in the book.

I liked math until I took this class. Expect daily homework. Her lectures are long and she basically just reads off the powerpoint. She is really anal about a lot of things like no taking pictures of the notes in class. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS.
