This class itself can get really boring and going to class is annoying but he's a really nice guy. He's not the best at Spanish and you can tell he's kind of learning it with you. His class is very easy, all you have to do is basically show up and put a little effort in.

Comment:

Olaf... What a guy. He is very private and doesn't necessarily speak English very well, but he is a good german teacher. He tries to teach us what we want to learn about and doesn't give too much homework. When he gives out study guides the tests are fairly straight forward.

Comment:

Great guy. Tries his hardest to help you learn German but it's a foreign language so it will be tough. Tests are fairly hard. Probably the best teacher I've had for a foreign language (4 yrs Spanish in HS and German last semester.) You have to get the textbook which is pretty cheap (25-35).

Dr. Böhlke is a great professor. He really cares for his students, and adapts the class schedule to the rate at which the students are learning and progressing... If he feels the class isn't ready for an exam, he'll push it back. As it's a foreign language it's inherently difficult but he does everything in his power to make it easier for you.

Dr Bohlke cares for you. Simple as that. He is always willing to help you understand German and will allow you to push back test days if need be. Although the class gets repetitive, it is worth it, He moves rather fast, so you must be comfortable learning on your own for some things. I would highly recommend him

Dr. Bohlke is a wonderful professor. However, the class is incredibly repetitive as we do the same thing every day. Tests are very easy. Olaf is a very funny man and cares a lot about the learning process. Lots of homework, but you can always redo assignments. He will ALWAYS help wether in class or in office hours. Great professor.

Bohlke is a very great professor. He makes you truly love German. Tests require roughly an hour or two of preparation. You need to be comfortable with partnergroup work. He assigns daily homework, but its quite helpful and you can re-try any question as much as you want. Bohlke made me declare a German minor. He is wonderful. Book is used daily.

He has a great sense of humor but you have to be comfortable talking to class members and there is often initial confusion but he always clears things up. You need your textbook and have lots of online homework. Flashcards are your friend!

Ohhh, Herr Dr. Bohlke. He is super funny and a great guy, but his class is a little frustrating at times! He assigns a lot of homework, and isn't necessarily thoughtful when it comes to due dates (i.e. assigning a large paper on Monday due by next class). If you pay close attention and do the study guides he sends out, you should be golden!

Do the daily homework and make sure you understand what' going on in class, and you'll be fine. Tests require about an hour or two of studying, but you won't know the content until the day before, which can be irritating. He uses a lot of web-based stuff and likes to assign homework by email, so the whole class is pretty random and disorganized.

Dr. Bohlke is awesome. He cares about his students so much and is always willing to help. If you do poorly on a homework assignment then he'll usually allow the option to redo it. He fully believes in the learning process rather than seeing his students fail. He's a great professor and I'd highly recommend him.

Comment:

Relaxed class with encouraged creativity. Owning a laptop is a great advantage in any Bohlke class, as he uses a course website and many internet resources to enhance the learning experience. Free speaking is expected in this class.

This class is really laid back. For many of the classes we ate lunch at Irma's and talked in German. For other classes he has you bring a topic to talk about. He's very helpful and doesn't care how well you can speak German as long as you put in effort. He uses some German slang but will reword things if you don't understand.
