For a clinical psychologist, she can be insensitive towards people with mental illnesses at times, but overall, shes a caring professor with good intentions.

Comment:

By far my favorite professor at Trinity. There are a ton of readings but most of them are pretty interesting. Be careful of tests as they are all short answer/essay and specific. Anything she says in class is important. Very challenging class but possible to do well if you work for it. Attendance not mandatory, but helps a lot to be there.

There is a lot of readings, but they tend to be interesting. Although attendance is not technically mandatory, the class discussion is always interesting and helps for the test. There is no study guide but study groups help a lot and let you know other students. She gets specific on the test but she curves well. Go to office hours!

Comment:

Dr. Becker is awesome and so are her classes. If you give her respect, she will give it right back to you. Coming to class every day makes her know who you are AND it is always interesting, why miss?! It is possible to get high grades in this class, you just have to work at it. There is a lot of reading but again, VERY interesting.

great class. LOTS of reading, and the stuff for the first exam is kind of boring, but after that it gets really interesting. you really do need to come to class every day, and though it is hard, it is def worth it and you will learn so much. one of my fav classes here. plus you get to watch videos of ppl with specific disorders - very interesti

Psychopathology - Tough class...lots of readings and you must know the information well to do well. Sometimes I found her intimidating because she gave me wierd looks regularly, but overall this class is great and becker is great. Class is too hard if you skip, but attendence isn't mandatory

Dr. Becker is an amazing professor. Her courses are difficult, but the material is very interesting, so it isn't hard to do well if you try. Her feedback on papers and tests is always helpful, so you definitely are able to learn from your mistakes. Even if you are not a psychology major, I would highly recommend ANY of her courses!

She is a very good teacher! Yes her classes are difficult, but they're worth it. I didn't find her subjective on grades. I found her clear and interesting and challenging. She even made me consider going into clinical psychology because of her class.

Whatever grade you make on your first test in your first class with her, that will be your grade for the rest of the classes you take with her. She plays games with students and, although I have never thought a teacher was out to get me before her or after her, I'm pretty sure she was! Be very wary of taking courses with her. It's impossible to avoid her in the department, but on the inside I know even Hertel is a better person/teacher! Never let your gaurd down around her! EVER!

No matter how hard you work, she assigns you a grade at the outset and will not be swayed despite your actual performance. She plays favorites and poses as a caring teacher. She stabs you in the back and gives horrible recommendations to grad/prof programs

Gives very clear and intelligent lectures. Fun class to take, but beware of the tests. On the tests, half of one would be just short-answer recall on the most inane stuff. Probably the best teacher in the dept.

She's really hard, but totally worth it...I've had psychopathology and intro with her, and they're my favorite classes I've had here so far...I'd take her class even if I knew I was going to get a C. She's really willing to help if you put out the effort
