Charlene is hands-down the best professor I have had EVER. I wish I could take more of her classes. She is very informative and helps you see both sides of each story and she respects every single opinion. Her topics are truly inspiring and I throughly enjoyed every class session. Even on Fridays. Please take a class of hers, you wont regret it.

I've taken multiple classes with Charlene and she has been one of my favorite teachers at Sonoma. Her lectures are interesting, she is clear about what she expects/grading, she's super nice and understanding, and overall a great teacher. Take her class you won't regret it.

She is a great understanding professor. I got sick a lot and she actually helped me with my whole attendance issue. You do however have to read the books she hands out because there will be essays based on the readings. Other than reading and some essays she is honestly really nice but 3-hour class is killer w/out friends

Dr. Tung has, hands down, been my favorite instructors at SSU. While her class was probably one of the hardest I've ever taken, it was also one of my favorites. The reading, lectures, and coursework assigned in this class has really helped change me as a person, and I am so grateful. If you can take Dr. Tung's classes I highly recommend it!

LOTS of reading! Sometimes you're required to read a book a week, and while there are no tests, I felt obligated to read it all. So get your books early-- you will need them right away! One small group project, three 2 pg. response papers, and one final project. Never lets class out early. Overall, really interesting class and I recommend to all.

Charlene was one of the BEST teachers I had while at Sonoma State. Her classes included a little bit of everything - lecture, class discussion, student presentation, groups, films, and more. I looked forward to going to class! Some think she has an attitude but I would call it more sarcasm, I'd rather have some "attitude" than a boring teacher.

Great professor. Learned so much from her, much more than I anticipated I could in just a semester. Her teaching and lecture style is so easy to understand even though the concepts can often be far-fetched. She's laid back, understanding and overall a brilliant professor. Take her any chance you get.

By far the best professor ever! Charlene is awesome, laid back, and super nice. I made sure that I took at least one of her classes each semester that I was at Sonoma State. Charlene knows her stuff and is very passionate about WGS. I always found her classes to be simple and if you are ever in trouble with the work she is more than happy to help.

This class was a large, credit/no credit, on unit class. Super easy. A lot of students so she wouldn't notice if you didn't show up (just have a friend sign you in). All the speakers were really interesting along with the films. Only two papers to write reflecting on the speakers you heard in class. Super easy & Tung is really nice.

Before going into this class I had no idea what to expect. Ended up being my favorite class. All the lectures were super interesting and she showed amazing films. I looked forward to her class every week. She didnt shove any ideas down our throat but showed us all different sides of feminism. Great class highly reccomend it!

Best teacher I've had at Sonoma State! She is awesome. I went into this class thinking I would hate it, and it was by far one of the best, most educational classes I've taken. Highly recommend her. She is what a teacher should be! There is a lot of work, but as long as you do it, try, and come to class you will do well.

Nice, makes the subject easy to understand. However she is kind of a smart ass and can make students feel dumb if she does not agree w/ what they say or if they don't understand everything completely. Gives a lot of pop quizes. She does respond to emails quickly and is willing to talk to you about your essay's, etc.
